Hi there, I'm Connor and I am a freshwater aquarium hobbyist along with being a developer of aquarium based software. On this channel you will get to follow my journey through the aquarium hobby as I share my experiences aquascaping, reviewing products, and showing the emerging technologies in the aquarium hobby.
I am currently keeping three aquariums - 65g Planted Community (Clown loaches , Blood Parrots, Polar Blue Parrots) 55g Goldfish (One large Oranda) 36g Plant Community Community (Angelfish, Yoyo Loaches, False Julii Corys, Mollies)
I have a friend who’s Rainbowfish got their eyes sucked out by Yoyo loaches. That’s why I think the Kubotai loach is just the superior yoyo loach - they’re much more peaceful.
I just got an opaline guorami and a cobalt dwarf guorami both male. They are young so ihave them in a 10 gallon with a plan to get them in a 36 once they mature. Should i keep the dwarf seperate in the 10 permanently?
Good day what sand can I put in the aquarium I just got a breading pair the guy said the female will have babies in 3 weeks must I keep them all alone in the tank
I have had my 4 petsmart angel fish since they were about a dime size…and I would NEVER put them with this fish, the parrot polar Cichlid, no no no. my angels are honestly so kind and angelic for real. I mean they’re not breeding or anything but..my polar is a little napoleon. my angels live in my betta sorority with powder blue dwarf gouramis, neon tetras, corys, otos, guppies, platys, and swords. my polar blue lives with a new smaller female and she has to stay out of his range. you are a great fish keeper imo. Granted, my polar parrot has a diamond eye, which may make his aggression be related to insecurity.
I actually like hornwort, but only when it's small floating strands at the surface of the water. If it gets too big or gnarly I trim it and keep the newest growth so it looks its best
my guy has a diamond eye, and he doesn’t get along with anybody😞 I have 2 but I’m afraid to get a third or more and then just find out he can’t get along with anyone
Ive had Clownies for decades. Sadly, I'm down to just 1. The others died due to an ick outbreak. And now, no fish store in my area carries them! Fred has some danios and tetras to swim with. I do keep living plants in my tank. One thing I will add-loaches will herd and all try to fit into small spaces together. Many, many years ago, I had 5 of them crowd into a small decorative piece in the tank, and due to the small opening once they were in there they couldnt get out and I lost them all. :(. I love these little guys!!
I have one myself and I couldn't believe that one was dead the next day. I now only have one. I put an Oscar but it was picked on with the mouth ripped apart I don't know why .
Our Albino Rainbow Shark looks exactly like yours, literally could be it's twin. We first named it Thor, but realized as it grew, it was a female (they tend to be larger/fuller shaped) and so we named her Maiko. We have had Maiko over 8 years, and she has had several tank mates in this time. Most recently the last year or so, we have had a red tiger barb with her in a 29 gallon tank and they are very were bestfriends. The barb would play hide and seek with our shark. Our shark does chase other fish, but we have never seen it hurt another fish. However, we have questioned a few fish we lost in the past that got nipped on their fins. Our shark has a cave she protects, but again, we have never seen her hurt another fish and have seen fish go in it, and she just chases them out of it at times. Sadly, our red tiger barb died recently, and we are debating if we should get another one as we are worried Maiko will be lonely without a tank mate. We were lucky to have a tank mate Maiko really bonded with. Do you think she would be ok at this point?
Love the way they look. I mistakenly bought a baby one to add to my peaceful 55 gallon community tank. Very bad mistake!!! As it grew, it became more and more aggressive towards my clown loaches and green tiger barbs, literally anything that had red tail fins. I ended up rehoming it to my local live fish store.
Good lesson, do not stock up a lot of orandas or any goldfish especially common GFs (they are huge as kois).. They tend to grow very large and messy. They need atleast 10 gallons each and up or they'll get sick and die eventually. You need 1 gallon per 2 inches of your goldfish.
