visited Saint Gerasimos last week and i was incredibly touched by the emotion and belief of the people visiting. It was a very emotional experience and filled me with a respect of the belief of the people clearly devoted to the Saint.
Saint Gerasimos pray for my wife who past away on December 7 of this year. She was plaqyed with her addiction and her struggles were causing her so much suffering. Her mother including her brothers abandoned her, l tried to get her to attend church though she loved reading about our Orthodox Saints. She especially loved Saint Paisios. She wanted to convert to Orthodoxy when she got out of the hospital, but she died of heart failure. I pray the Jesus prayer constantly. We were married in a Greek Orthodox church in 1995, however lost our way. I pray for her soul as I'm completely devastated. Please pray for her, Kelly Ann Dempsey Papadopoulos. Thank you, her husband Gus Costakis Papadopoulos
@@tommasocianti9308I especially was taken back by such beautiful and spiritually profound words. Thank you so much, it really put me at ease. God love you
Make sure to arrange as often as you can the divine Liturgy and Memorial service on her name in any Orthodox church close to you. That is you are to provide and offer what is needed for the service; consult the priest in charge. God bless!
Gerasimos of Kefalonia (Greek: Άγιος Γεράσιμος) is the patron saint of the island of Kefalonia in Greece. Gerasimos (1506-1579) came from the aristocratic and wealthy Notaras family. He was ordained a monk at Mount Athos, went to Jerusalem for 12 years, spent some time in Crete and Zakynthos, and - in 1555 - arrived on Kefalonia. He spent his first 5 years in a cave in the area known as Lassi. He subsequently cultivated the area where the monastery of Saint Gerasimos now exists, near Valsamata. The monastery which he established cared for the poor and became a center for charity. The natives of Kefalonia believe that Saint Gerasimos protects them. They also believe that he has the ability to heal them. Many natives of the island name their children after Saint Gerasimos - as a tribute to the saint who guards them. The body of Saint Gerasimos is at the monastery, made available for veneration - as it has never decomposed. After his death, his body was buried - twice - and exhumed intact, thus leading the church to canonize him as a saint. Kefalonians throughout the world still revere and pray to him. In 1953, immediately after a powerful earthquake on the island of Kefalonia destroyed 90% of the island, there were many claimed sightings of Saint Gerasimos throughout the island - who is believed to have comforted and tended to the injured trapped inside homes and buildings. During the feasts of Saint Gerasimos - August 16th and the 20th of October (translation of relics) - his body is passed over ill and sick persons, for the purpose of healing them. His body is also displayed by the church during the divine liturgy at the monastery on many occasions. A church named after Saint Gerasimos was established in New York City by Kefalonians who emigrated to New York in the early 20th century.
Beautiful video using black and white and not being distracted by color, the music is inspirational. This saints legacy has endured and will continue to endure. , Bravo!
