awesome dog, my last dog was cropped, tragically she just passed away at 13 years old. I am getting another baby girl and might not crop this time around.
I’m like you, I’ve wanted a Doberman for years but just so worried I won’t be able to give it what it needs in terms of exercise and mental stimulation ....done lots of research but not quite sure.
How is your Dobe with other dogs? I’ve read that males are very prone to same sex aggression. I have a female Dobe who is my world and would love another one day.
Matter of personal opinion. Owned one for 10 years. Was finished champion in 96. Have ribbons and certificate to back it up. Undocked and uncropped just doesn't look like a Doberman. Un docked tails are prone to fractures. Un cropped ears are prone to mites and infections. Plus if you're any bit serious about exploiting the breed's ability for personal protection, then a tail and long ears are a major hindrance. Also can't read the dog as well with uncropped ears. When done properly the ear operation is harmless.. . Animal activists that say otherwise are full of BS. Because of the new laws that were passed ,this has lead to people getting the ears done at unlicensed Vets and much suffering for the dogs. Working breed dogs are not to be owned by idiots. They are not toys.....but powerful animals to be raised with commitment and discipline.
Odd how we don't complain about these problems in Rottweilers, Labs, Goldens, or pretty much any dog with floppy ears and a long tail. Docking and cropping are almost entirely done for aesthetic purposes - in Dobermans, it's because the dogs look more intimidating. Same goes for Cane Corsos, American Bullies etc.
Complete bullsh*t from start to finish. There’s absolutely no reason to crop ears or dock tails. Having ears cropped actually increases their chance of ear infections...too many morons on RU-vid
Beautiful dog. I saw a red a few weeks ago here in Oakland, CA. Tail was docked but the ears were natural. We will eventually buy a Dobie and I’m going against American custom and will leave the ears natural. Tails are docked at such a young age that you really don’t have much choice unless you know the breeder in advance.
wowwwww... gosh thats an original doberman... no ear tapping no cropped tail... so good to see someone who have an original version of doberman... my friend have one original breed and after him I saw yours... they are real beauty :)
I've had a few Dobermans and I recognize that chronic wound. I used a very common and cheap product that veterinarians keep on hand. It's called Nolvason S it's blue and is a liquid similar to hydrogen peroxide but it's for animals. You mix it with water till it's light blue similar to this💧. I put it in a spray bottle" I used a 4oz" and just spray it a few times a day. You should notice a change in a few days. It's also commonly use as a ear cleaner it doesn't hurt/sting it's very soothing for hot spots. Good luck I love dobermans
Thank you so much for the tip! Not sure which wound you mean, but if you are referring to the sores on his throat it was the result of a dog attack which wouldn’t let go ❤️ He is fine and healed now though
@@leonthereddoberman8208 I was referring to the sore on his neck. Good I'm glad to hear it healed. I had a few Dobermans that had Von Willebrand's disease and I used that Nolvason S and it worked really well to heal things quickly.
Beautiful dog and love the name. I saw in another video when dogs sits or lays on you they dominate you in their language which is not good if they are the Alpha.
Thank you 🥰 The whole ’alpha’ dog thing doesn’t exist in human-dog interaction. It was based on research done on wolves in captivity, but even though there is an alpha male and female, the flock don’t live with constant ’orders’ and each wolf leads different things (raising pups, hunting, guarding etc). Dogs don’t want to dominate their owners ❤️
He was attacked by a dog, which didn’t want to let go of his throat. I trimmed the area to clean the sores but it looks worse than it was. He is fine ❤️🙏
@@mmareviewer.2372 Pretty self-righteous of you. The Doberman was meant for short tail and cropped ears from day one. It's not until the last 20 or so years that laws were written to disallow it.
Ironic you said that,, I have a red dobie now named faith. She is 8 as well. She is fairly active in her old age as I have another female named Ena. She is 2. And a handful 🤣
