My question would be - was it created by Archimedes? I watched another video about Archimedes and in that video the gentleman stated that Archimedes had made a mechanical wonder that was supposed to be sent to someone but has never been found. I'm wondering if this device is that device.

Can you make a model where the Earth is flat and stationary and everything else orbits above it? And at the end you say "FFE-rters.Here is the proof that it is the Earth that rotates and orbits". And please explain it simply for us ignorant people. Thanks

Chinese museums have 100s in pristine condition, no mystery, shows where technology was coming from. The Anglo-Saxons picked up on the technology and weaponized it then followed trade routes back to the source... leading to centuries of destruction in China and Asia area.

There would be sea air damage as well as friction damage to gears ⚙️ made out of brass etc. one really needs the hardest metals for the smaller cogs etc. Perspex is a good content box for visualisation of parts.

Does anybody have a realistic guess as to why the original was made? Yes it tracked the motion of the heavens. But why was the ease of use and accuracy of this device necessary? Navigation? Agriculture? A calendar? There's no way all the time, effort, resources, and expertise went into this just because they could

I could see this on a large scale in a display at a planetarium or museum. Either with the manual crank so patrons could try it OR automated with a motor and running in real-time so that patrons could can see it working and what is occurring right now.

my friend is possible to make this drive like a clock and maybe ity ould be possible to create the modern time of a normal clock here the hours and minutes are the same long to relate that to variable time where the day and night only at approx 17 march 2024 and 2025 are the same long like 12 hours day and night aqnd than they start to very so we could create a variable Time Clock versus the used and ordinairy time everybody is used to...the acceleration and diminuendo of the speed you did explain that a ratio was used of abotu 0.445 ith mercury I gues such a device ould be possible and usable for a clock hat I am thinking of but you arfe the mechanic...I pity it that this device is hand driven to be hnonoust...couldn´t e use steal spiral veer in dutch so that it is that strong to let the mechanism drive a very long time===or maybe electronics....and than combuine the clock idea to it to make it complete...than e coulkd easily make extra features to incorparate the tatta system of india and alle the other time aspects of ancient of days...but the last to idea´s maybe to far fedged,....

What an awesome job you've done. This truly is a genius masterpiece. I wonder how long it took the original builder to do this? Was there a school for this kind of thing, this is an example of lost knowledge. I wonder how many other things disappeared.

I just finished watching you make the Antikythera mechanism. Absolutely fascinating! One of the best presentations I've ever seen. You said the original also had intercalary years & hollow months. I suppose they're not relevant for us today, but, are those wheels something you could engineer in afterwards, or are they something that needs to be integrated as you go, ie, whilst making it? Can't wait to see what else you make.

The spiral dials on the back could use a lever trip system where as the fial traverses outwards, when it reaches the end of the spriral, a spring loaded, or a weight on a string could be used when a pin in the spiral groove hits the end and rotates, then the spring or weight pulls the dial arm back to the center to begin again automatically.

Comming from an engineering background this mechanism has allways facinated me , in theory what tooling did they use when made to get a accurate shaft for example how was this done without the likes of a lathe & the maths involved is amazing , the offset gear slot to compensate for elipticle orbits it's beyond my ken' how did they do it ??
