I grew up around Ashburton in the 1980s, so spent lots of time playing in the spaces you mentioned in this video. I can also relate to your description of Watson Oval, having played football there before they improved the drainage, and it definitely was a bog in winter.
When my son was younger we would go and sit on the Ashburton station. We made up a song about the Alamein line trains. It's in my channel and called 'i like trains'. I liked your train ride video
