 Phillip Ingram R&B/Soul • Los Angeles, CA Artist Profile » I was born in 1958 and I grew up in Akron, Ohio. I come from a musical family. There were 6 children, all of us could sing and play an instrument, but only 2 of us decided to do music for a living, and that is my brother James Ingram & myself. In December of 1976 the band SWITCH was formed, which consisted of Greg Williams, Jody Sims, Bobby DeBarge, Tommy DeBarge, Eddie Fluellen, and myself Phillip Ingram. SWITCH was signed to Motown Records. During our 5-year tenure, from 1977-1982, we recorded FIVE ALBUMS - two PLATINUM and three GOLD, culminating with more than eight-million records sold. SWITCH had five Top Ten Singles with "There'll Never Be", "I Wanna Be Closer", "Best Beat In Town", "I Call Your Name" and "Love Over & Over Again" Since 1984 I've worked behind the scenes working with various artists singing background, doing guest vocals with such artists as Quincy Jones, Go West, Sheena Easton, Lionel Richie, Celene Dion, Kanye West, Julio Iglesias, Barbara Streisand, Willie Nelson, Olivia Newton John, and so many more. I've worked on films, singing lead and background on such films as "Father Of The Bride II", "The Little Mermaid", "My Best Friends Wedding", "RV", "Shrek", "The Road To El Dorado" and others. I've worked on many TV commercials, Radio Station IDs, TV Shows and more. As a songwriter I've written or co-written songs for Patti Austin, The Temptations, Teddy Pendegrass, Janet Jackson, Allyson Williams, Barry White, Brenda Epperson (From the 'Young & Restless'), Wayne Henderson, Wilton Felder, and of course SWITCH and others. I continue to sing for TV & radio commercials, working on films, Radio Stations IDs, and recordings. I'm also doing LIVE PERFORMANCES, working as a special guest with various artists, I perform my own shows. and SWITCH continues to do shows around the country.
