No doubt, the most under rated and mega talented country rock band that ever existed. Damn shame they were lightyears ahead of their time and never received the glory due to them. 👊
My heavy metal & psychedelic ass in the 90's found their records, then would just trip out on them. Haven't heard of them since till now! They r wayyyy underated, if I can listen to em, n I don't listen to that music, that says they could've been more mainstream with right push. But they didn't grease the right crooked palms I guess? Lol. They didn't sell out I assume
Spencer Dryden on drums, Buddy Cage on steel, Skip Battin on bass, David Nelson and Marmaduke! I saw this lineup with the Dead around this time, but I think Dave Torbert was still on bass at the time, and Garcia played steel.
They were one of my favorite bands, my husband loves them too, NRPS were one of my favorite bands in the early 70’s, my friends loved them and we played their albums constantly, right along with the Dead. Huge fan, I only saw them live once in 1974. But it was well worth taking the good ole midnight flights from LA to San Francisco for $14, my cousins invited me to come up and go to A Day On The Green!!
Less than 3 years after this date I saw The Dead with NRPS backing them up. Nice to see Garcia on the peddle steel. The bummer of this though is what went down at Kent State the day after this performance.
John Dawson is the real talent in this band, no doubt. Where is he now in ‘24 ? Amazing Skip Battin went from the Byrds or was it the airplane along with Spencer the drummer from airplane to riders.. Makes sense to me… gliding on the astro plane ! Going where no music has gone before !
I always liked that song in their live sets, especially in 73 and 74. LA Cowboy is another one of their unsung heroes in their set around that time. I saw them in NYC at the Academy of Music on East 14th Street a few times, at college concerts a few times, in a huge Central Park concert. I recall Susan Collins singing back up that day and on studio recordings from that time. I knew her from the old neighborhood in Brooklyn.
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA I can't remember from another video about when I saw your comment. Cause I had to hear what people were saying I had to laugh That's not talent kid i'm sorry that's just not That's about as basic of basic as you can get And I know you're gonna go to my channel. It's like watching lightning strike A huge screaming note for note You tend to play exactly like you're guitar player There's no talent in country music
Oh Buddy Cage your playin’ satisfies even better than ole Panama could with bent notes that linger in my mind like it’s happening right now! Truly mind bottling!!!
