Awesome video, thank you! Do you by any chance have a recommendation for resources on the Exposure Lock button? I know you mentioned some of the uses as "pro tips", but I am having trouble finding an in-depth explanation of its uses. Also, is there an indicator light to show that the Exposure Lock has been activated?

We need educators such as yourself for the analog resistance. The time I send word from is bleak my friend. The Film goblins have all but won. Ridding the world of all things film, save for our sparsely hidden caches. Please prepare and stock up on supplies for the dark times to come. I have used this temporal proxy via the top secret eastman time sensitive emulsifier to recruit for the resistance. I have subbed in hopes that you will band together with us and combat the digital dystopia ahead. Please do not click on this channel unless you are prepared to be targeted by the film goblins. One of many fabulously wonderful cameras - at one point I had five - getting older now I have given two away. I'd often run three, 1 B&W, 1 Colour and 1 with transparency - and ocassionally a fourth with Delta 3200.

For beginners in the SLR sector, the Praktica cameras of the third generation, the so-called L series, are also recommended. Especially the: Praktica LLC Praktica LTL Praktica LTL2 Praktica LTL3 Praktica PLC Praktica PLC2 Praktica PLC3 The only thing you need to be aware of is that you need a battery adapter for these cameras, as the original batteries are no longer produced or have to be ordered from somewhere abroad, which is far too expensive. However, suitable adapters including a pack of six or ten batteries that can be inserted into the adapter can easily be found for little money on the major sales platforms if you enter Praktica battery adapter in the search field. For the Praktica LTL and the Praktica LTL3 you need a WeinCell battery with 1.35 volts and a metal adapter, plastic adapters that are open on one side can hinder the flow of current. For the other cameras I have mentioned, you need an adapter that has the external dimensions of an AA battery, but reaches a voltage of 4.5 volts with three LR44 button cell batteries inserted. Otherwise, there is a huge selection of lenses with M42 screw threads for these cameras. The best known lenses are the Carl Zeiss Jena lenses, the Helios 44 lenses or the Meyer Optik Görlitz lenses, but you should make sure that the lens mount has an M42 screw thread. Of course, there are other equally high-quality, but equally inexpensive lens brands like the aforementioned Helios. For example, the Revue, Revuenon, Revuetar or Revueflex lenses from the former mail order company Quelle. However, you really have to check whether the lens has an M42 screw thread, just like the Porst lenses. There are so many more lens brands and manufacturers that have produced lenses for the M42 screw mount or, as with the TTArtisan lenses, are doing so again today. But with the most frequently produced lens mount in the world by far, there is no need to worry about not being able to find a suitable lens for your own budget of perhaps €5 to several thousand euros. The only thing you should be aware of is that you won't find autofocus for automatic focusing on either cameras or lenses with an M42 screw mount. You will have to focus manually. 😉 Greetings from Germany Lutz By the way, the same applies to these old analogue cameras and lenses as to all others: First make sure that everything works before making a purchase. The same applies to the new TTArtisan lenses as to all technical devices, provided you buy them new: Don't forget the warranty. 😁

Just the video I needed, thank you! It's so overwhelming looking at everything that's on the market and trying to learn about it when starting out! I would also say : try asking your family for their older cameras. Turns out my grandfather had one he probably had in the 60s-70s to give me!

I'm glad to hear that the video was helpful for you! Starting out in photography can indeed feel overwhelming with all the options available. I'm thrilled you found the information useful. Your suggestion about asking family members for older cameras is excellent advice! Plus, inheriting a camera can add an extra layer of meaning to your photographic journey. Thank you for sharing your experience and suggestion. It's a great reminder that sometimes the best camera for us might be one that's been in the family for generations. I've seen anywhere from your settings to 15 clicks out. I've been using a Aeropress for over 5 years and run from 8 to 10 clicks out with excellent success. Typically with a new batch of beans, medium dark to dark, I set the Porex Mini ll at 9 clicks. Temp of water plays a key part and produces a interesting side effect. I run 188-190 degrees, the side effect is a distinct increase in plunge pressure. The music doesn't play a part, not required.

Nice video.. My advice would be: Base the camera-choice mostly on the lens-system you want to buy into. Leitz-lenses are EXPENSIVE!, even the "cheap" ones. Canon, Minolta (Rokkor), Pentax (Takumar) and Olympus (Zuiko) are excellent lenses, and more common, therefore significantly cheaper in general..

Want the Leica experience without the price tag. Try the Zorki 4K, Rangefinder 35mm with a 50mm F2 lens, same lens fit as Leica screw thread. It does not have a built in light meter. You can find cheap hand held meters though. Or use the sunny 16 rule.
