I wish it wasn't so feast or famine though. I understand it's absolutely meant to be that way, but for people who aren't gifted with a good sense of timing, it means the game is completely unplayable.
All I’m saying is that this game made me like street fighter. It wasn’t too difficult to get into from like an injustice or Mortal Kombat background. I think it’s better in some cases just because of combos being dependent on how you strike sends the opponent or if it stuns etc. I know it’s just me but I like incredibly detailed gaming mechanics that can be understood
Ryu's EX hadouken knocks down opponents to the maximum distance, Ken's doesn't knock down as far - nor does it travel as fast. But I suppose that it's lack of plus frames are its most important difference.
Fun fact: There is exactly one realistic and practical scenario where Remy can get his taunt off and it allows him to stack all 4 of them. I think you're only ever going to see it on Urien, though maybe you can get it off on Oro. You have to hit the handcuff glitch where a projectile hits you during your neutral throw animation. This locks the opponent in place allowing you to taunt and build meter as time permits. A basic jump-in combo to super will grant you about 75% stun.
It means the opponent can act 4 frames before you can do anything. By contrast, Ken's crouching MP is +3 on block, so he can perform an action 3 frames before the opponent gets out of blockstun. This is called frame advantage and it's usually different on block versus on hit (and in this game, you can be more advantageous if you hit a crouching opponent).
Wish you guys would have made these breakdowns for the rest of the cast, these videos are excellent, I come back regularly to refresh me on my Ryu and Alex
I love grapplers & I want to get into third strike again. I used to play it when I was younger & would use the shoto characters. But I’ve grown ALOT since then. Being a kid/teen, to now having 3 kids myself. As a kid, grappler characters made me throw my controller I hated being grabbed soo much but I was a scrub youngster lol. The ironic part is how much I LOVE WRESTLING. Been a WWE fan for as long as I can remember, as well as playing fighting games. But I always kept the two separate; when I played a fighting game I used a martial art based character, if I wanted to play a wrestler I’d play Smackdown Vs Raw 😂 I don’t play the same anymore as we all mature & evolve. I’ve gravitated from playing more flashy, more combo heavy- to more of a damage focused fundamentalist. I’ve grown to love grappler characters since then. I found a love for King in Tekken 7 & I winded up picking up Zangief in SFV. I want to play 3rd strike but there’s no Zangief & Hugo is so damn Wonky big, I want to learn Alex but every comment says how bad he is. I guess I’m a masochist
Ken does overhead kick. Its 2 hits in a row. You block the first hit, and then tap forward at the right time to red parry the second hit. You have more frame advantage aka get a better punish on it then had you blocked both hits. The timing on red parry is like 3 frames though so its riskier.
