@ 32:30 I quote," A true convert will never even look back, according to Jesus. Let alone depart from the faith." Ray claims he's not a Calvinist, but it sure sounds like that's exactly where he got this false teaching from. That dead certain sounds like the false doctrine of Perseverance of the saints to me or it's a clone copy of it! Was Demas a real believer? " Demas hath FORSAKEN me, having loved this present world." More proof Ray Comfort is way off on his soteriology. Btw, Demas was NOT a false convert. He is a Bible example of the seed sown in thorny ground. Luke 8:13 " And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection." Only Two of the seeds sown by the sower is a lost person. Number 2 is a false convert IMHO. They pretend for a while to believe but ultimately fall away. Why? They had NO ROOT. That means the seed did not take root producing the new birth. They never got born again. bible.timelesstruths.org/Luke+8:4-15
@ 22:45 So, if you're a hearer of the word and not a doer you are a "false convert". I quoting Ray's own words. More proof this man does not understand salvation. He said, "I've spent hours and hours of those who proved to be false converts." Why because they were not living dedicated Christian lives and still had sin in their lives? He said, "They didn't need counsel. They needed repentance." Why, because they did not have victory over the old nature yet? Perhaps they still had evidence of sinful habits in their lives so he thinks they're lost? Yes, that is exactly what he is saying and it is dead wrong.
After hearing what Ray states @ 22:00 it should be glaringly obvious he does NOT know what he's talking about. He is teaching false doctrine and selecting verses he thinks back up his teaching while ignoring all those that clearly contradict what he's saying. So, Christians who are "really saved" don't LIE, don't steal, don't kill, commit adultery, don't lust, don't hate, don't get angry without cause? What planet has he been living on? That assumes falsely that if a believer were to do any of those things whether once or multiple times it's proof they never were saved! Again, this is more proof the man does not know the Bible as well as he thinks and is dead wrong in his understanding of repentance. I guarantee you there are Christians from around the world AND in your neighborhood who are truly born again and have committed some or ALL of those sins. Some of them are in prison right this second while others are divorced for adultery. Can you not see this man is in extreme error?
I haven't listened to the entire message yet and I already see so much wrong with Ray's teaching. According to what he is teaching every single true believer WILL of necessity have a totally radical change in their lives upon salvation and instantly become dedicated, mature Christians who read the Bible incessantly, participate in church attendance and activities, and set out with determination to follow the Lord in all their ways. His teaching is also clear that if one does NOT do these things it is evidence that they never were "really saved" and have never been born again. He used many verses to try and prove his point. Yet, the Bible is clear as can be that all believers do NOT bear fruit and do not surrender completely to Christ. All believers DO NOT become spiritual and dedicated Christians. This does not mean they aren't saved, but that they've been yielding to their old carnal nature. They have become backslidden and are out of fellowship with God. Yes, a person can remain that way until death. In fact according to very plain teaching in not one, but several places in scripture, they may actually wind up dying early due to the chastisement of their heavenly Father! Ray does not understand the scriptures and makes repentance something it never was.
Should be titled “12 ways your phone affects christianity” to reflect the amount of religious context focus here. Had me in the beginning but I think this topic might be more helpful discussed in a context that is more inclusive / less particular
