Oh if you unhook the yellow video cord the S video black videi cord will look bettter due to less conflict of interferencecwithvthe pre blacj whitecand color seperated or kept seperate vs combined on single postive negative yellow cord, Just recall the red and white for rightvand left sound still. But yeah the video only needs either the black one with four pins for two ground/interference protection and 2 for b/w luminance etc portion of the image and the other/4th and final pin is color well ok the metal outer ring terminal is a main shield I suppose for the 4 inner non mesh outer but beneath the plastic black insulation type of wires. But yeah if you wanted a softer look then yes the reversecis true the need for seperating color and black white from eachother by the displays comb filter as it is called will provide a softer look. Just recall disconecting the s video then.. or seperate video for reducing confusion from the misnomercof svhs.

In my opinion, it all depends on what you need the image for. When you talk to people, for instance, do always look at the details in their faces, unless some details already stand out? You hardly ever notice some minor details, and when we say sharpness, how sharp is sharp enough, or even too sharp? It all depends on what we want from that picture, I for one don't like the modern cinema looks, it looks bleak, blueish and horrible as if you're watching dead people acting. Compare it to the movies they made back in the '60s, '70s or even '80s the colours look more natural and realistic You will only need a very sharp image if you need some details to investigate, or to read some numbers, etc... You get the idea. I love older handycam, I believe they have this uniqueness in the world of photography and videography. I am still using my 2000 Sony Handycam, one with Hi8 cassettes, the other is hybrid, Hi8 and Sd Card The one thing people never mention is that these handycams, can be turned on and left running for hours, without overheating or losing focus., Smooth zooms, and in good light conditions the image quality is extremely good.

I have the same camcorder. I simply connect the Firewire out of the camcorder to the Firewire connection in my PC. The Firewire card in my PC cost me about $30.00. The software I use for capturing is called Virtual Dub, a free program that works with all versions of Windows. Using Firewire, you get an exact digital copy of what is on the mini-DV tape. Can't do better than that! 😊
Both cameras use analog sensors so there won't be much of a quality difference anyways. I use a Sony MiniDV (digital tape) camera and the quality looks exactly like your "analog" camera because the sensor itself is analog.
Hi :-) This is SO helpful. I've shared with so many people I know who have camcorders. One question though - my camcorder (Sony Hi8 TRV65) doesn't seem to have an audio video port. It has a audio (red), mono (white), and video (yellow); in addition to the aux sized mic (red) and headphone (green) ports. I've been successful using the larger S Video port with a cable I found, but only for video - no audio. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you so much!
