My name is Alan and I am an amateur film maker living in Alcester who loves to make short movies of this beautiful little market town and its events.

Using only a GoPro camera and a DJI Drone, myself and my colleague James Patton who runs the Just Alcester Facebook Group, between us look for interesting sights and sounds around our town. This could be events, news, our local history, drone footage, natural walks through our countryside, abandoned railway lines and bridges, Remembrance Day service, our choir, the annual Mop. We also create photo comparison videos, comparing old Alcester with present day. There are ten episodes on the channel to watch.

I am registered with the CAA, as s drone pilot and have the required permits and also carry public liability insurance.

Please like and subscribe to both Just Alcester Facebook and RU-vid channels if you like watching or reading about content from Alcester as I will upload videos often.

Many Thanks for your support.

Could I just comment that the picture you class as 1920s High Street, is actually dated a lot earlier. The ladies are certainly not in 1920s clothing and I would expect a few more cars, rather than just one horse and cart. I think this photo was taken circa 1900-1910? Some wonderful old photos of Alcester, which has actually changed very little around the town centre.

2:03 at redditch there used to be two tracks and two platforms And now one track and platform have disappeared altogether Leaving just one platform where we are standing and the track that we are looking at is still there

Thank you! I grew up in Dunnington and often road my bike with friends to Lobutts pond and spent many happy hours fishing there. 1965 to 1973. Boys own stuff 👍😊

I came to Evesham and ashchurch stations numerous times before and I saw the remains of the trackbed that used to join Evesham station and continuing onwards to ashchurch station where I saw a spur line curving in and I looked at it and the platform on the Evesham loop line is now closed and disappeared altogether but the track is still standing

10:49 it’s a shame that this bridge that used to carry trains over the river is now demolished but the abutments are still here 12:43 The station site is still accessible and although the track bed is completely covered there are remains of the platform 15:28 what a shame that the bridge before broom junction station is now gone and so is broom junction station Although the station buildings have been cleared away, remnants of the platform still remain The trackbed running through the site has been incorporated into a north-south footpath 19:07 I drove past that signal box a couple of times before I didn’t know that there was once a railway line that ran alongside the road 23:09 The station building of Salford station itself is still in existence, little changed and has been used as an office building The goods shed still stands. The station building is now owned by a property developer company, Bromford Turner, who have applied to demolish the building.

2:43 that’s where the line used to continue onwards from redditch And now it’s the pedestrians that are now walking on this section on what was the line extension from redditch 3:55 I’m glad that the tunnel of redditch is still standing but it’s blocked up by the fencing on one end meaning no one can come out the other end of the tunnel 7:06 I believe everyone is gonna be coming to this area and thinking there used to be a railway line here 7:44 I’m glad that this station and the main building is still here but it’s now private residence which means no access 9:27 I’m glad that this station is still here too but that too is private residence 12:02 and that station building is still here too even through that station like the other two before it is now private residence

Thank you for that wonderful video of the plaques. I was quite moved when my late family were on there. I left Alcester just after the war but have returned as often as I could when on leave from the Royal Navy. I still like to come back when I can and try to remember how it was and waiting outside the Regent Cinema hoping someone would take me in to see an “A” classification film. Happy days, thank you. Thanks for your message Derek, I wish I had been of the era when the town still had a cinema, unfortunately I wasn’t. My wife’s grandparents and aunty worked in the cinema and we had some great stories. If you’re not already a member Derek, find Just Alcester on Facebook. You might enjoy seeing the pictures and hearing the stories that are shared. Many thanks

Thankyou so much for videoing the names , and lovely to see Alcester in all it's wonderful glory, Having lived in Spain for the last 17 years makes one appreciate the town I lived in since I was married and now retired. I loved everything about the Town the work that Mags Payne does and the volunteers that keep the baskets beautiful. Will be back for a couple of weeks Sept/Oct for a visit, so I hope the baskets will still be up for me to see them. Lyn Bootle xx

That was so awesome! I have about 500 years of ancestors from there and 2 cousins living there now. You walked by one of their homes a council house across from the Church. Don't know if she is still there. I was there in 2013 and I loved it ! Had my one and only real English fish and chips with mushy peas meal in the restaurant down that lane at the side of the church. I love Alcester!🥰

@@justalcester4507 Probably around 2012 I was communicating with David Mallen and a woman from the library/museum. Then in 2013 I met them both. Had lunch with the Librarian Researcher and my cousins in that old medievel wine bar at Old Malt Lane that was fun. And I met David for coffee at the coffee shop I think you passed somewhere down where the scaffolding is I could'nt see it though. I been a subscriber to Davids channel ever since. www.youtube.com/@davidmalin4563. I always check Alcester when flooding occurs. Thanks for responding,

As usual, when a railway is closed in Britain, it has to be obliterated so that people will never know that it existed and to make it difficult to be reopened.

It was a seriously insane day in the lives of the railway system when bent and twisted governments destroyed a perfectly good rail system, when all that was needed was a good update to bring the rail system into a good future. Putting money into a road system with no foresight was utterly crazy. 70 years on the roads are overwhelmed and at times GRIDLOCKED.
