I believe this Longshoremen's strike is no coincidence. There are several factors that we must consider when looking at this strike. First, what is the response of the current President and the the candidates running for the coveted office. The election is about 35 days away. If the projected loss to our economy is 1 billion per day, that can severely affect us. Second, while this strike is in its infancy, there are advertisements running for Flippy the Robot, that has successfully been tested and now in operation in over 1,000 White Castles and an unnumbered in Jack N The Box fast food chains. This robot has replaced whole crews, it operates the fryer, grill, and drink dispenser. I don't know if it places the order on a tray or bags it up, however it replaces a whole shift of workers. I'm sure the Longshoremen believe they are essential unskilled employees, however the owners of these Ports see them replaceable by Artificial Intelligence, which is more efficient than a human operator. Artificial Intelligence will not call off, it doesn't have to punch out by 10:00 PM due to restrictions by school districts that govern juvenile employees. Artificial Intelligence, isn't affected by health issues, it doesn't need time off for personal reasons. Artificial Intelligence, doesn't need health insurance, life insurance or worker men's compensation. And the owners of the docks and transportation companies can continue to charge the customer the same freight rates as currently being charged, which is passed down to John Q Public. Kamala Harris is running on the platform of protecting the Middle Class, and a Federal law of price gouging against companies. With these issues I pointed out, and perhaps a few that are unknown to me, you can see why this strike not only has the potential to economically cripple the economy, and place American consumers in a pinch, but it will have a direct effect on the presidential election.
