its very possible to make it quicker, although for most purposes like opening a secret door this is good enough. the idea was to keep it simple and light on resources so you can set this up on day one more or less. there are other designs that put the allay on a hopper and dispence the item back with a dropper, but this is about as simple as it gets.
Long awaited project!! This is still so absurdly cool. Budding the pistons to lock/unlock the inputs is so simple and clever. The color sorting looks way faster, which I feel like would be a huge bonus for actually playing Now that it's memory based I'm even more curious about win detection... I might mess around with this a bit.. would you be willing to release a world download or a schematic file?
Thank you! Getting it to reset faster was a big design challenge and I think if I work on it a bit more I can get a few more seconds out of it lol. As for the schematic, I'll update the description tomorrow when I'm back at my desktop.
This is really cool im happy to have stumbled upon it. Why don't you use multiple concrete powder sorters? Also, what would it take for the game to automatically detect a win?
well, i had a design that used a sorter for each row, however you would still have to merge the rows into a single block stream in the end to bring them back up to the top. it was just simpler and smaller to do it this way. the sorters used a bug that got fixed in 1.18.2 so sooner or later ill upload a revised version that uses a memory system. im in the works with it now. as for a win detector, honestly im not sure. my buest guess to start would be with some memory system or fancy logic gates but i have a feeling it can get very big very fast. my idea with this was for it to be survival friendly and not be the size of one of those computers lol. sorry for the late responce just checked yt lol
basicly when 2 colors are 0 ticked in the same block space at 1 tick apart, the game will check if the colors are the same, and if they are, it will schedule the falling block event 1 tick earlier, then different colors. that 1 tick of time delay is just enough to push only 1 color out of the way
nice idea! this can sort all gravity blocks that can be pushed by a piston in block form and should actually work in a lot more versions than just 1.17
