Hi Norm I have a 1970 Bolens Husky 1886 with a Kohler horizontal 2 cyclinder. Trouble getting spark when I turn key on I have 12v to +side of coil. When I turn to start no power to coil. Hey Norm Great video! I think those are properly termed “planetary” gears or cluster! I’m wondering why you don’t pressure wash off a lot of the built up debris, grease & dirt before starting? The air is the next best thing but should also be done outside before bringing the tractor into the shop! At least that’s my approach when possible! I’d really enjoy hearing your take on this as you do a lot of work on these and I respect your opinion!! Thanks Lee

Where do I find a gas pump for that engine?
@jamessalyer3215
@jamessalyer3215 23 дня назад
Thought I should point out. The fittings you welded to your reservoir are malleable cast iron, not steel. The welding heat makes them extremely brittle. A better option is to weld a short pipe nipple, then screw the fitting on to the thread Great job so far though.
@dacat8171
@dacat8171 23 дня назад
I think you got this wrong with the heat: you should not heat the bolt, but rather the device where it is stuck in. Heat causes metal to expand ☝🏿🧐
@Isavetractors
@Isavetractors 6 дней назад
Heat will still break the rust.
@dacat8171
@dacat8171 5 дней назад
@@Isavetractors This happens due to expansion. You can amplify this reaction by cooling the area first and then heating the surrounding area of the bolt.

You sure made it look easy brother. I did my first 12" tire repair with this tool by adding an inner tube to an old tubeless from my 1999 Murray lawn tractor. Took me over an hour. I learned a few things but what I didn't expect was after I pumped it up the valve stem slowly receeded inside the rim and vanished while I was reaching for the valve cap. Why me?

This is the best instructional video on wireing a tractor ever, now I actually understand how it works and how to do it. All the others I seen were not helpful at all. They just assume we know more than we do, whereas u start completely from basic and explain everything so well.

1.5 turns is a good general start setting for all carburetors for any engine.

Hi Norman, I'm about to close on 10 acres of brushy land down east. I want a midsize affordable vintage tractor... With loader bucket, backhoe attachment, and post hole digger attachment. What are the best models and years to seek for this need? We'll be clearing, adding driveway and foot paths, digging for construction of outbuildings, and building a small home, and we'll have a small number of farm animals. It would be nice if it had enough power/ torque to move boat trailers and loaded carts of compost around the property.
@Isavetractors
@Isavetractors Месяц назад
For you, you would want to consider a larger tractor than a garden tractor. Something around 2 tons (4,000 lbs) would be great for you. And then get a smaller garden tractor for the smaller areas.
@Building_Bluebird
@Building_Bluebird Месяц назад
@@Isavetractors thanks Norman. After learning more, I'm thinking a Ford 3000 or 4000 or a Allis D14 or D15 might be the right size. Is that the size you're thinking of?
