It would be fantastic if Lucas and Spielberg let some of his projects being Directed by this man. I think Willow, Laberynth or even Poltergeist would be darker and wittiest under his hand.
I don't wanna hear Nick Castle's whole “aw, shucks" routine about how he didn't do anything special and anyone could have done what he did as The Shape in Halloween. The man freaking glides when he walks. No one could have played The Shape like he did. Dick Warlock moved like a robot in Halloween II.
Haha nah dude in front of me kept moving and I had to adjust-also I was fiddling with the mic etc so sometimes it goes off the rails. It’s a pain in the ass holding a phone up for an hour at a time for 4 or 5 straight panels lol
Once we all realized that it had nothing to do with Michael Myers… We all said you know what??… It's a pretty damn good movie… Ha ha ha ha ha great to see the crew up there!
Its a great stand alone movie with a Halloween theme. I didn't care that Myers wasn't in it. Loved the film since I saw it on Video rental back in the 80s. The score alone is amazing, Carpenter at his best.

I really like John Carpenter for his work and his cranky attitude. I love more of his musical scores than I do half of his movies. People want him to direct, mainly another Halloween really badly, but they have to realize he's up there in age and his attitude about making another film isn't good. Me personally, I wish he'd embrace the love and respect that the Halloween fandom has for him and give us a True sequel to Halloween 2 in the Michael verse and complete a trilogy before time gets away for us. He could set it in 1983 and lean into the supernatural edge way more and go hard with tension and stalking and a few brutal kills. Michael could wake up 5 years later from being terribly burned and go on another spree against other characters before he gets caught again. That leads Laurie to fake her death before H4. But yeah what if. He's old he's cranky let him retire in peace.
I def' disagree with him being an overrated filmmaker. Hes done more with movies with budgets a fraction of what others would need to accomplish the same things. As far as never wanting a franchise in the first place, that doesn't mean he doesn't like the original film--he just wanted to leave it alone without making sequels, and while I love the whole series, I cant fault him for feeling it didnt need one. Many people agree with him on that.

Which he still was part of until season of the witch, then the 2018 reboot. And never owned being just like everyone else, who risked themselves at carrying the Halloween legacy. When his own ideas for the franchise weren’t well received.
I remember when I was young and I would mention Halloween 3 and friends would say it’s terrible don’t watch it, I didn’t until years later. It’s okay. Could have been released without Halloween in the title. The series missed Myers.

@@robertsommerfield6716 my parents allowed me to rent the vhs when I was a kid coz it was rated 15 in Ireland. I was allowed watch 15 movies as a small child but 18 was off limits lol that scene creeped me out too
This was excellent, Carpenter holding court and bringing everyone out, just awesome. I was fortunate to meet Carpenter twice and he was so accommodating and cool, it’s priceless when someone you look up to is everything you could hope for when meeting in person
This was GREAT! I love how he shared so much from his perspective and history. Never knew any of these things. I can’t help but wonder which actress was a bit of a “diva”.
@@TheDarkOne2356 I’m not so sure about that. Danielle Harris was hurt and then was a bit catty when talking about it on her podcast but not like a Diva. I got the impression it was a cast member from these last batch of films. I wonder if it’s Kyle Richards. She seems very nice in all the behind the scenes footage and in the interviews. Maybe it has something to do with her saying her nose was broken during her fight scene. Oh well. I guess at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter. They all did their jobs. So who knows.

I will never forget that awful feeling in the movie theater back then. For the recasting and the utter disrespect for a beloved character. @@oldhollywoodfan8009 I have my own 2 cents on the whole danielle getting screwed over on halloween 6, honestly I blame the weinsteins for that BS! Still the akkads and paul freeman should have fought harder for her and given her a much larger role in the film. Dan farrands original plan was laurie and jamie reuniting and the second one was jamie getting killed at the end of the film after michael stabs her and then she activates the bomb sacrificing herself to wipe out most of the cult. Fact is though she should have been brought back and NEVER been killed off.
