I completely agree with Dr. Sean-I’m optimistic that accounting and finance firms will adopt the necessary workflow discipline to deploy AI intelligently, where it's necessary, prudent, and ethically sound. Accounting professionals, with their expertise and sense of accountability, will be absolutely critical in this transition. It’s a great opportunity for those who embrace and innovate. (Not to mention, it’s an opportunity to rebrand good old-fashioned “Six Sigma business process reengineering!” lol!) I might be dating myself here, but I think this may offer some comfort to those who are anxious about the unknown. As a corporate leader, I’ve lived through two significant industry restructurings caused by technological disruption: travel and tax preparation. A colorful example: When I joined the travel industry, we charged $75 to $125 just to book, print, and deliver a paper ticket! Can you imagine? In both industries, technology changed processes for the better, business models evolved (e.g., from transaction fees to management fees), and people’s roles and contributions transformed positively. But it took time, and those who embraced the innovation still thrive in their industries today. I initially watched this video out of curiosity, as I recently launched an AI-powered SaaS that targets one of the most painful parts of accounting and tax prep-the garbage in, garbage out (GIGO) problem with bank and credit card data. And direct connections don’t always fix this. But after watching, I’m even more excited about the future of this space and how we can truly help folks!
