I must have missed it but why did he not take the classes in the spring? Also no one cares where you go to school. When I interview I look at degree and experience. That’s it. Unless it’s some BS online school then a degree from a mid tier school is the same as an elite school.

Greetings from Mountain View. I went to Foothill many, many years ago. And then continued to live at home during my university years before I was drafted into the US Army in 1970. UCI has been developing and I think it's a good choice. I hope you do well.

You didn’t follow directions. Therefore, you took the space of an in-coming SJSU student who would have been thrilled with the opportunity. You may have skated by this time, but your self-entitled viewpoint and manipulative behavior will not get you as far as you think.🎉

Honestly SJSU is probably a better school to get a job afterwards given its proximity to Silicon Valley. UC Irvine is not going to have the same connections.

I want to tell you, as someone who is in their early 30s and is just now starting the process to go to school, dont stress to much about where you go. Popularity and prestige is based on old money more than quality. Just get the degree, a few years after you graduate you might brag where you went a few times but otherwise you wont even think of it. The only reason I know this is due to a few of my old friends that did go to college and seeing how much goes on in and though life, what school you went to is unimportant compared to having the tools to make a decent living. But, feel good about getting in. Sometimes you just feel really good about getting something you wanted just because it’s what you wanted and honestly, those feelings can be the best. I wasn’t able to go to school when I was younger due to family difficulties. Just make sure you get some kind of education but outside of that, it doesn’t really matter too much. Good luck. I’m rooting for you

Well done and well deserved. The bureaucracy and bloat of every school's systems and admissions process is truly overbearing these days. They really do just have you running in circles and dead ends just to keep you hanging/on edge for weeks. I'm gonna warn you right now in regards to your pinned comment "It’s about experiencing change."; the campus is just about on par with every other University Campus, but definitely more quiet and "chiller." You're not really missing anything lifestyle wise you wouldn't get at any other university in the current era. It's really like cosmopolitans VS small town people who have connection to the land. Pick a man out of New York - and he'd be just at home in London, or Sydney, or Dubai - with seldom any shock to the system. Pick a man out of rural Tennessee and drop him in Barstow and it's a complete shock to the system. The rest of the city has definitely lost it's soul. After 1999 - when the Marine Corp bases closed - this was definitely the writing on the wall of what Irvine would become. Growing up - there was a very clear feeling that things were much better a decade before in the 90s; a sentiment fortified by 1. the amount people would romanticize just a few years prior 2. the amount of people that were long time Irvine residents moving away 3. the very clear and active changes to the community both physically and ideologically (less so demographically - demographic change has always been something that's been a thing with Irvine; it's always been about the ideology/culture VS demographics - how ever people really get hung up on demographics here as a talking point "we're so diverse" type beat) The 2008 Recession happened; and this ushered in what I would call the "post-2010" diaspora. By 2017/2018 I think the city was definitely cooked. Irvine is mostly home to two main cohorts; "Grifters" - move to Irvine to put your kids from K-12 OR until A. the money runs out B. unless they go to college here - then move out. It was always a phase for them. "Cosmopolitans" - people who moved away from the big city, for a slower pace of life, or for a "safer, less rough" environment. They usually omit that last part. They always bring big city ideas and culture here. Very utopian thinking "ideologues" type-people. "If only the streets were walkable/bikable" "If only we had electric garbage trucks" "If only they would build more homes" (not looking at the bureaucratic bloat) etc etc etc This place is definitely a rich man's city now - however not a playground like Newport Beach. You come here because you are a high-wealth sleeper, or sub-Newport levels. Not very many people left with "roots to the soil" here. Many of them have moved away in the years prior for a better life elsewhere. A natural question comes up - "why don't you move away, sounds like you have some grievance with the current state of the city" - I have too much stockholm syndrome for Irvine to tl;dr it. There's more behind that; but that's the tl;dr. Otherwise I think you'll enjoy the relaxed atmosphere here - to come home to. The city is very beautiful, very manicured. A lot of assets, and resources. Very superficial community these days - but I think that's inline with most of the nation's metropolitan - or near metropolitan areas - particularly on the West Coast; where "people do not know their neighbors." If you're someone that needs what I called "landmark'd/physical/destination/attraction" activities (i.e. "let's go to Santa Monica Pier" "let's go to the Getty Observatory" etc etc etc) - you're going to find yourself traveling OUTISDE the city to go and do these things. Everything closes by 9:00PM or 10:00PM (with obvious exceptions). Two landmarks in Irvine you're going to be subjected to quickly are the Great Park and The Spectrum. The Great Park is affectionately known as "the lame park". It's basically a glorified sports complex for sports programs and schools, and her current state was to both deny the construction of a veteran's cemetery, which was itself create to deny the conversion of MCAS El Toro into an airport/JWA replacement. The Irvine Spectrum - you'll quickly pick up on that; something is wrong with it - and - as someone who's witnessed it's transformation from it's earliest years; The (modern) Spectrum makes so much more sense the moment you understand that it is was made for people COMING TO Irvine, and NOT so much for people IN Irvine. If you want good food, run around 17th Street in Costa Mesa, or up and down Newport Blvd in Tustin. South Coast Plaza (Costa Mesa) is where you go after being dis-enchanted with The Spectrum. Fashion Island (Newport Beach) is very nice, but a little useless for day to day affairs. Definitely made for people in Newport Beach. Lake Forest has great spots dotted around her various plazas. For good Mexican food - of course you can literally walk into any place in Santa Ana. If it's too posh you know it's going to be terrible. Of course there's even MORE recommendations and places beyond just the intermediate zones around Irvine - but this is just a quick glance. If you love noodles, if you love sushi, if you love boba - there is no shortage of that here in Irvine. People in this city run on 3 things; Sushi, Sugar, and Boba. If you get caught up in the asian culture craze/idolization that's popular honestly all up and down the state - but very much here - you'll find yourself frequenting places like The Packing House in Anaheim - or just generally a lot of places in Anaheim; and people dragging you up north into places like Cerritos, or San Gabriel, or going to seasonal events like 626 Night Market. Irvine has one of every race, religion, creed, ethnicity, identity, nationality, etc - so when something goes down on the global stage - you immediately feel it and see it here; ESPECIALLY when wars or conflicts pop off. Definitely some tensions here, but the cosmopolitan cohort will try to down play it or flat out ignore it, and sometimes are just unable to recognize it/see the pattern. I think that's why people definitely love the police overwhelmingly here. Not so much that people love order, but I think people know they are the only reliable 3rd party they can trust to de-escalate or maintain the order on anything (i.e. a protest or demonstration). THAT being said - despite the general increase of crime across the board - Irvine is definitely still safe(r than other places). NOT as much so as it was in 2010 or 2000 - but you can still go for a walk at 3:00AM; JUST be weary of the car coming towards you. Property crime and robbery is up. Murders are up but these are still isolated to "inter-feudal" affairs (fratricide, ex boyfriend/girlfriend, co-worker, etc (there is a history/lore to this)) VS random killings (botched robbery, random shootings, etc).

As an SJSU alum I guess I'm sad to see you want to go. But I will echo what another commenter said, it's not that important. I'm semi-retired now, I left post graduate at SJSU over 46 years ago. Since then, none of my employers have even asked about college. Being able to put college degrees on my resume just got me past one more step of the gauntlet toward employment. Nobody has asked for transcripts or to look at a diploma. I doubt anybody cared to check. Nobody cared. I've happily spent most of my career self employed, because my bosses were all (but one) assholes. I've spent most of my career selling my skills to clients not a mindless, feckless HR department. My education put me in a position of second guessing their bad decisions (and they were assholes making bad decisions), which didn't make me popular. But in the end, I went full time with my own business by walking away from my last job with their clients, at their request ("Hey, I want to keep working with you, but get me out of here."), while the business went bankrupt. So you've got a future ahead because you've got a brain in your head. Keep it working and you'll be a success, wherever you went to college

I would stay at SJSU if I were you. The courses are just the same at any UC, for LESS. You can have a better chance asking to work in a lab for that lab experience. The classes are much smaller than a UC and you can get more attention from your professors, given that you go to their office hours. Once you join the workforce with many years of experience, no one is going to care what school you came from; they will care more about the skills and experience you've gained from work. SJSU is really good for business, engineering and life science. Just make good use of that lab experience.

Alex: I just came across your video, not sure how or why; but just wanted you to know, I am a successful independent, CEO in IT Administration and Consultation. Its guys with attitudes like yours that provide a renewed light in me and my spear of influence of small business, that would be so very proud to hire someone like you. You are a motivator in the face of adversary. I know from a parental standpoint your parents must be exceptionally proud of your accomplishments. Good luck and I hope you nothing but success as you navigate through College; ANY higher educational facility would be so much better served if everyone could see your outlook and not expect it just be handed to them!
