Mach Fishing is dedicated to Kayak Fishing and crabbing. When I first started my kayak fishing journey, there were few resources available to me for my local waters. Now kayak fishing has exploded as a great sport, where I also promote Kayak crabbing. This channel will also embrace kayak gatherings, such as meetups, trips and camping. So join me as I share my experiences with you, in the hopes that it may help enrich your own kayaking journey! Keep on fishing and eat more tasty crustaceans!

I went to school for electrical engineering, but I like the data to compare one fishing or crabbing outing to another. So if I want to crab in an area, I can look back and see if the wind direction and speed for a doable area.

Kayak Fishing, welcome to the addiction. One place I enjoy kayak fishing is Piney Point in MD. Lots of places to fish around the St Mary's River. Of course, for catfish, I like Mattawoman Creek Slavin's Boat Launch. Lowes Wharf on the Eastern shore is great which gives you access to Poplar Island shoreline.

How much water and apple cider vinegar should be added to the pot?
@MachFishing
@MachFishing Месяц назад
I do about a 1 to 5 ratio, Apple Cider Vinegar to water. When you put the liquid in the pot, it should stay below the grate at the the bottom of the steaming pot. Keep the cabs off the water solution.
@michaelk4140
@michaelk4140 Месяц назад
how to you keep that much trout line from getting tangled up when you are deploying it
@MachFishing
@MachFishing Месяц назад
I find using the thicker rope (line) reduces tangles in general. I think my line is 3/8 inch. for a kayak. Also, using your arm or my PVC guide and a taller (6 or 7 gallon) bucket lifts the rope out of the bucket more vertically thus reducing any tangles.

Hey thank you. Good luck out there. Depending on the area you are crabbing, the crabs are found in 4 - 6 feet of water or 6 to 8 feet of water. They bite better on a moving tide.

@@MachFishing I ended up getting a dozen. I will definitely say it was a struggle at first. I accidentally dropped my basket in the water with my line on it. So spent the first 2 hours untangling it and then had to re lay the line because it was very slack. I also realized I have a very small net. I missed over 2 dozen crabs because they just jumped out of my net. Overall though I had a blast and will be back out again soon! I have a new appreciation for how easy you make it seem
@MachFishing
@MachFishing 2 месяца назад
It seems like they shut off early. Best crabbing in the morning. Also, I have noticed, at least for me that they crabs are big, but there seems to be fewer crabs. I know the MD crab report did say that the crab population took another downturn after an upturn last year.

Decided to dig deep into some of your older videos and found this gem. If you remember, I was messaging you before I moved back to MD. I’ve since boated 30 blue cats using simple setups and the suggestions you gave me. So thanks for that. Do you have any tips on how tides affected fishing, if at all.I’m amazed at just how many species come thru that area. Specks would be at the top of the list. I’m guessing it would be best to wait till cooler weather/fall time? Cheers brother
@MachFishing
@MachFishing 2 месяца назад
I am glad you were able to get the detectible Blue Catfish. I made some blacken blue catfish the other day and it was very good. For trout, they like clear water and grass beds/grassy shorelines. Find the grass and troll the edge of the grass. Fish seem to get more active as the tide is moving, either from low to high or high to low. Crabs also like eat during a moving tide. So yes, tides do affect fishing and crabbing for the most part.

Great job 👏 love the videos. I also can't help but think a shorter net might be better 🤔
@MachFishing
@MachFishing 2 месяца назад
Thanks, I am glad you love my videos! A shorter net would not work on a kayak, since the prop stick that the baited line goes over is a few feet away on my kayak and when the crabs see you, then sometimes want to jump off or swim away from you. The extra length of the net will allow you to dive down for them or have a chance at chasing them and scooping them up. To your point I did, when I first bought my net, cut a few feet off of the handle which is what you see me using in my videos. My next goal is to build a lighter and more nimble net that has a big mouth and an aluminum pole. It should move through the water much quicker for a kayaker. Thanks again for your comment! Keep em coming. :)
