Thanks for visiting! You're asking if they're overpowered? Well... let's just say there may be some but they do have at least certain drawbacks when using them. In general, I never feel like this map pack is a pushover, and there are a few proper challenges in my opinion.
Looks like an interesting set of maps. Also cool to see it mixed up with a weapons mod. Makes for a very different experience it seems :) How many maps does it have?
Hello. I've been looking for this track for more than 5 years. Do you think you could share the mp3 of this somehow? I'd love to put this in a set. Please let me know!
Sharing such things on RU-vid is a big no-no but I could suggest a couple solutions: downloading/converting this video, or looking up a website whose name consists of, in this order (I'll use definitions instead, seeing as there are some moderation algorithms in place that use AI to check comments): the current year (as of writing this comment anyway), dot, the possessive pronoun for "I", "that which doesn't cost anything", "the fluids present and obtained from plants, especially to be drunk (in plural form)". A ridiculous way to explain that, I know... Anyway, I appreciate your enthusiasm for music; I know how it is to hear a track and not know its artist/name for years. Thanks for coming and commenting!
The 1st guy was a Mancubus, one of the monsters introduced in Doom 2, along with Chaingunners, Hell Knights, Revenants, Arachnotrons, Pain Elementals, Arch-viles, and a couple more. The chainsaw is good against enemies with a high pain chance (as it's called; it means the situation where they flinch on being shot) who won't retaliate from such an attack up close (the chainsaw delivers many "hits" at high rate). BTW the Cacodemon's appearance is heavily inspired by a cover for a Dungeons & Dragons expansion book.
Cheers. I did do some research with this one (finding out that the hill at the end of the forest / near the pipeline is climbable) but as usual, it's possible to complete this one even faster and smoother.
@@SQron188 i was playing this when i was in high school, that time in Poland (and in general in east europe) it was not easy to get a PC to play this kind of games;) cause lack of time i was playing this in a simple way - go - shoot- go - shoot again :) greetings from PL!
Nah, they were nowhere near the most annoying or dangerous for me. It was Pain Elementals, Chaingunners and Revenants (and Arch-viles in some situations... you'll see).
Glad you like it too; some of the later levels do get frustrating and just plain evil. Overall fun and satisfying once you get in the groove, and the graphics and the music are brill. It really helps to notice that the number of jumps/bounces you make in one spot corresponds to the height of your jump (1-3 and it's "measured" in tiles) so e.g. spikes on the floor and the ceiling can be avoided consistently.
No, never come across it with this game. Couldn't find anything related to this (obscure) game; I would try reading up about memory violation errors in general, I think. Thanks for dropping in here!
@@SQron188 that's a shame. i looked around the internet for solutions and i also couldn't find anything, but back in the day, the game worked on my old PC just fine. anyway, cool vid.
Well done! Great playthrough :) One day I need to replay this game, might do the HD version then too as I have not played that one and it is free for people who own it already. Seems you enjoyed the game overall then? :)
Thank you kindly, I enjoyed this thoroughly and I will admit this game's gone above and beyond my expectations (which does mean they were lower that the game's actual quality, though). Once I get the craving to go through this game again, I may try a higher difficulty, though the last few levels (esp. the penultimate one) challenged me to the extreme. Think I'll stay with the non-HD version, however.
Super trippy level with those trees, so many waves on this one, almost reminds me of Devil Daggers to some extent if you've ever played it? Almost done!! Just one level left :D I think the video for it isn't in the playlist? and also I noticed the order for E3M4 is wrong btw :)
Not played that, the name sound like something on the Amiga honestly; at any rate I took a look at it and I didn't get it at all This level took me multiple agonising attempts... but over time, every few of them, I'd get a little further into the waves until *finally* the waves stopped at the way was open... phew Thanks for the heads-up, all true; may have been my mistake but when I assign videos to playlists while uploading, I can see that sometimes RU-vid gets confused and messes stuff up... 🙄 Also, accessing the videos through the Videos section on my channel often displayed them in the wrong order, or even with inexplicable duplicates... Shouldn't happen but there we are. Not a big problem but I haven't looked at this playlist since around E3M1.
@@SQron188 Yeah, Devil Daggers is a fairly small game. Think it was a couple of £'s. It's basically just like that level, waves of enemies and the point is to see how long you can last. Some of the enemies have similarities too, like those weird floating spike balls that shot stuff everywhere. It's pretty fun, but not a game one plays for hours. At least not me :D Yeah, I get youtube messing things up sometimes and I end up double, triple checking lol
I looked it up and the only one is the alcove around 03:06; you just have to get up to it and press the 'use' key on the wall under it but it didn't have a different texture or anything so I had no clue, and with what this .wad is like so far I didn't feel like parting with a single % of my health, to be honest...
The start of this level has a very original Myst vibe to me. I just expect you to suddenly have to stop and do some obscure puzzles XD The level sure is trippy enough though...
Not played Myst but this level does start out with a feel different than the others. I think they mean to show you something familiar that's been twisted.
This one's a real looker, especially the stained glass, and the extremely high walls. And then there's the tornado obliterating the whole thing on the surface.
I aim to please : ) This map felt nice to play; I'm not much into fantasy settings but give me a gun and I'm happy. The level made me think a bit of Quake, as well as Diablo, and maybe even Thief, and Skyrim...
Not sure if you know yet... but you're a heretic. At least that's what I hear... :p What I find odd about watching this is that there are some levels I completely forgotten. Like I'm watching it (not specifically this level) thinking that I either played a version before they added said level or I somehow never got that far... although I know I completed it, haha... but then suddenly a level will come along and I remember it super clear!
Thank you for your praise; this did take some effort and multiple attempts for some of the worlds (and recording level-by-level for the late levels so that I can clear that world without too much bad gumpf in the video). I have nostalgia for SM All-Stars and a few othere SNES titles that I was able to play at my cousins' SNES a long time back. Some of the first video games I played.
I've only just started to get round your Call of Duty stuff. That was very well done by the way. Especially near the end when you were taking out enemy in quick succession. Your reflexes are way faster than mine 👍🏻
Thank you very much for the words of appreciation! As usual, I try and record a take without glaring mistakes, and one that ends in completion, of course. That bit near the end was probably one of the easier ones this mission, and this entire mission is on the easier side itself... Not going to beat all of the Spec Ops
I've never seen this game before, looks like a 2D Twisted Metal :) I can see this being one of those games back in the day that could just end up sucking hours away though. Thanks for sharing :)
Maybe I should try out Twisted Metal at some point, then; will see. I have played this quite a bit around 2005... It was a freeware game on a CD that came with a games magazine over here. Also, this game rather blatantly uses some guns (ideas) from Quake 2 but it's all quite fun, so there we are.
@@SQron188 Yeah, and they got the UT99 announcer voice in there too :D Yeah, you should try out Twisted Metal 2, its the one I preferred of the two first games. I've not really played much of the ones after that so can't speak to them.
You've no idea how happy this makes me! Few people to enjoy or discuss this kind of music with. I've got a whole playlist of music on my channel, might find something else you enjoy there, pretty much all of them tracks that otherwise weren't on YT before, so quite niche: ru-vid.com/group/PLh-NqKHZgzK2lwfmERg-_gYo2hIqZSEyx Got a separate one for retro-related music as well: ru-vid.com/group/PLh-NqKHZgzK1pLyzYj3kZPzgibRbz0BWO
The early part of the this level, outside, is where someone here on YT recorded showing off all the weapons in this game and what eventually convinced me to play it.
I think I gotta say it's my fave FPS now. Got tons of nostalgia for Quake 2 and F.E.A.R. but I that's gotta be it, looking at things from perspective. Hey, thanks for dropping in! Really appreciated. Maybe you'll find something else on this channel that interests you, it's all organised into playlists. Mostly FPSes and old games but there;s some other stuff, too!
Those little buggers running towards you with their mouths open scared the shit outta me. At least there was a flashlight later on, man it was sooo dark. Never seen the thing that shoots Skulls at you before - very weird 👍🏻
Yes, one of the switches raised the water level (and allowed further progress). Neat bit of dynamics to the level design as well. Yeah whoever writes those things on walls doesn't have the player's best interest (in progressing) in mind.
I see the dig battering ram made another appearance here. Those were some weird flying things near the end but the green crossbow thing sorted them out 👍🏻
"Dig"? Like, dog + pig?... : D They seemed canine to me and they bark as they attack, so there. But anyway, a hit-scan weapon or one with fast projectiles help against those flying things because they keep milling about randomly.
Yes, it's got to be the bloody and rusty grating etc. I played through Silent Hill 1 some 10 times, got a playthrough of it on my channel here as well.
@@SQron188 It's a fantastic game, while I think SH2 is better.. the first SH doesn't get enough love imo. It's incredibly good. I will have to put your playthrough on my playlist :D Sweet!
@@SuperRetroPolygons beaten SH2 & 3 as well and the recording playlists are here as well Many people have been expressing praise about SH1 these days, at least judging by the videos covering it on YT and people giving comments, though SH2 may be overshadowing it a bit, especially with the upcoming remake. At any rate, I love the atmosphere and the soundtrack of SH1; it was also the pioneer of the series and of many horror game solutions and approaches.
Had a wee laugh when you were able to hit a few guys from behind that little grill thing. That was some weird bad dog battering ram at the end. Does the character constantly make that "Hu" noise as he walks? That would stop me from playing it.
Was a bit surprised myself that the sword did the job, I guess it was only a question of range. And that thing, I was completely baffled by, I thought for a moment it like part of a puzzle in that room or something, and I didn't initially attack it! Mental That? That's the jumping noise, and it's a staple, and very similar to the one in Quake.
Yes, I'd done that earlier (it's easier with the bigger mages' projectiles, as they're slower); it's just a matter of holding down fire and moving slowly backwards. Nah, the end level enemies weren't too bad; the 'gator was just a bullet sponge and its attack isn't too dangerous; the Twins can cause a lot of damage but they telegraph their attacks and there's cover around.
Was a bit of a cubbyhole, that, but also the only way out. The voice coming on and the game progressing were standard indicators of picking the right path.
Love how the game changes things up like this from time to time. Such a good game :) Just changing the pacing and giving you slight tweaks on gameplay is great. Also from watching the past few episodes I have really started to appreciate the soundscape of the game, and you can hear it more when its fewer enemies and when you walk around areas you already killed stuff and your just looking for secrets and items.
I never had any experience with this one, but I'm pretty sure a friend of mine was playing one of these games back in the day as it seems familiar. I think it might have been one of the earlier games though as 2001 is a bit late.
