As a New Yorker, I would love to visit Iowa one of these days. I know 90% of the state is mostly farmland, but all states have their hidden gems & treasures! I would also love to visit the Iowa State Fair that happens every summer!
I was born in Iowa. This is the fantasy version of Iowa. If you're a straight man looking for a family and a wife, Iowa is the last place to look. The women there are super narcissistic, and the men tend to be the same. If you have kids, keep them away from here. Iowa defends child predators and makes it the child's fault. There's a serious meth problem, and if you're different, people make fun of you. I got into parkour, martial arts, and breakdancing. If you do any of those hobbies, stay far away from Iowa. The people there will judge you and hate you. They're also very racist and seriously sexist there. If you happen to be gay, stay away as well. A lot of these attractions are only in the larger cities. Women there also sleep around and call you an incel when you mention how they don't need to go to a 5 star restaurant to date someone. Iowa is not a place to go. It's full of very sick and ignorant individuals who can't accept anyone's flaws. Oh. And if you have medical issues, expect to be laughed at for them and don't expect to get help for it there. Iowa is full of delusional and small-minded folk. Stay away or get bullied by weirdos.
Our legislators don't support women's reproductive health, Queer and Transgender kids, or public schools. Do something about gun violence? Support improvements in preschool or child care or improve soil and water quality? My goodness gracious, no. I'm an Iowan, and I'm not ready to give up yet, but yikes, this is a ridiculous ad.

I live near the Mobile Bay in SW Alabama just 40 minutes from some of the most beautiful beaches on the planet in Orange Beach and just 2 hours from Destin FL. I’ll just stay here

I think we need to reimburse the federal government for spending COVID $$ so poorly. Not only is it a horrible ad (low bills, seriously) but misspending of tax dollars. They also need to mention our dropping education rates, low wages, you know the real truth.

However like I said above they said low bills because cost of living tends to be much lower than other states. As you well know, The U of Iowa is a great school in Iowa City…living as I do just down the road from the U of Michigan (in Ann Arbor)I love to say that Iowa City has everything that Ann Arbor has…without the pretense. Nice to read your eloquent praises of The Hawkeye State. And there’s good reason when, in the film “Field of Dreams,” Kevin Costner asks, “Is this heaven?” and the response is, “No…it’s Iowa. I live in Ohio, but was invited to teach several times in SF. I can give you directions from here: I-80, then I-80, then I-80. 🙂. I had nothing but great experiences in going through Iowa. Beautiful scenery and kind, helpful people. I still have several Iowa Hawkeyes caps that I picked up en route that are among my most prized possessions. I wear them proudly and always root for Iowa (unless they’re playing my alma mater, Rutgers). Such a nice place. You can understand that moment in Field of Dreams when Kevin Costner asks, “Is this heaven?” and is told, “ No, it’s Iowa.” Cheers and good wishes to you!…JT

Anecdotally speaking I do know of people from states whose lockdown restrictions were much harsher who visited IA because ours were relatively lax. For example I'm sure Quad Citizens are familiar with Illinoisans partying in Iowa back when Illinois venues were closed. On the one hand, IA's all time per capita case rate is ~16% higher than IL's. But IL's per capita death rate is ~5% higher than ours.
People on the ILL-annoy border sure love coming over here for "affordable" gas, which isn't so affordable now that we're no longer energy independent. We also have GREAT gun laws here where as ILL-annoy will do anything to keep your from having self protection. As for death rates, do you count the death in the Chicago shootings each weekend or are you referring only to the "Covid" deaths?

Sadly, we've lost a lot of our critical workforce in many fields, especially medical, because of the forced jab. If you're looking for a GOOD state, go to one where you are protected for your medical beliefs and not forced to make a horrible decision. .....Jab or lose your job.

Also, the state of Iowa itself has not issued any vaccine mandate. Lastly, non-vaccinated healthcare workers are like football players without pads.
