Great video! In one of our Free Walking Tours in Buenos Aires, Argentina, we offer at the end as a surprise a free tasting of Mate (our national beverage, something similar to tea). It's a great way of finishing the tour and making it more memorable and authentic!😀

Thanks for sharing all of these tips Kelsey. My "Ah Moment": We're "Value Driven" and not "Sales Driven". We're the best, not the cheapest. I'll now be able to explain it to our guides as to why we're not the cheapest in a succinct easy to understand way (all staff are ESL). Thanks Kelsey, as always, I get something out of every video.

This is good advice, but who has time for all of this? And then to put yourself at the center of it for the purposes of creating intimacy... that's exhausting on top of running an already exhausting business. Especially a business where you have to be on all the time for the guests who are already in front of you. I don't know how you're also on all the time on every channel on social media, plus brainstorming, plus writing, plus editing, without having a giant marketing team or a huge marketing budget. If you are already a multimillion dollar business and you aren't doing this, then sure. But for anyone at an earlier stage, where intimate marketing could be truly authentic and valuable, how do you find the time?

That's the point of the video right. Guest Focus will show you 'what's' possible, however, to know 'how' it's possible, you'll need to do the course right. Guest Focus will show you the "how". This takes something. Guest Focus knows the 'how". Getting this to happen takes time. You have to start somewhere. What Guest Focus does is shows you where to start so you're not spinning your wheels going the wrong way and wasting your time. Guest Focus will start you off in the right direction so you are building what you need, your brand, the increased booking, consistently getting referrals from previous guests that become advocates for you. Guest Focus are called "Guest Focus" for a reason. They know how to personalise for your tour business what you need. In other words, showing 'you' how to focus on 'your' guests.

I’m on several platforms, so when I get booked on one platform, I immediately lower the price on the other platforms for that slot to entice ppl on that platform to book for that day/time; therefore, increasing the number of folks that attend a specific group across all platforms. :)

Some things to think about... Thanks Kelsey. My secret sauce ideas to help out other tour operators: 1. Every 5 star review our tour guides get, the tour guide gets a bump in pay. This encourages the guide to make a quick comment like at the end of each tour like "If you loved this tour please let my boss know by giving me a 5 star review on Google." (They say this with a cheeky grin, and point to a QR code we have as a sticker inside our vehicle.) They've been doing this for three months. Think this won't do much? Here are the stats: We've gone from 19 reviews to 29 reviews in only months. For perspective it took eight years to get 19 reviews (since 2016). 10 more reviews took only three months. People book on the strength of Google Reviews 2. A free gift with every tour for ever passenger. We've got laser engraved EBT designer sunglasses. We've got "I've seen dead people in Bali" mugs. We've got 16 Gig Laser engraved USB sticks. We've got LED Hats that light the way for our guest at 3:30am climbing a mountain. All practical, all with a purpose, and all with our logo (on everything), and our website on most of those giveaways. People get the feeling of getting something for free, we get to advertise to them even when they go back home. 3. Giving our agents those same gifts everytime we go to visit. We say "Here is a sample of the gifts we give to your clients, our guests" and the agent gets the item out of the packet, takes a look at it and nods in appreciation as they hand the item back. At this point we say "Noooo, that's for you to keep. You've listened to me talk to you for 15 - 20 minutes about our tours, thanks for doing that, that's your gift." when you go back again in six months (or whenever your agent rotation is) watch what happens when you go next time. You'll have a room full of the agents top sales people, because "Your the guy that gives out free stuff" and you vget to give everyone a six dollar laser engraved (with your logo and website details) to everyone at the meeting. They think, they've gotten something for free. I just had anywhere from 4 to 15 people in the room for 20 minutes and then I was able to advertise to each of them for $18 - $90 ... Cheapest advertising ever. 4. We recently changed our logo. So we had acrylic LED lights made up of our logo. We went to all of our active agents and gave them one (or two, maybe three if the place was big) and said "you could keep these on always in your office. If you ever come back to the office at night these little LED lamps glow awesomely and act a great night light. When we went back... you guessed it, our logo is blazing away even during the day on a shelf and it never gets turned off. This means that their customers, and our competitors know who we are. 5. This is our big one... if you have read to this one, you deserve to know the one that had made us the most sales. We added up every pax from every agent. We added up every tour from every agent, and we gave out three crystal trophies. 1. Most Pax 2023 2. Most Tours 2023. 3. Rising Star Award 2023. Guess where these trophies sit. In each agency right in their front reception area, taking centre stage. One even has had a light shining directly on it. These agents have used the trophies in their media proudly stating that they are providing tours for us. We are using their names, however, they feel privileged to use our name. Here is the biggest kicker we got from this. The agent that won "Most Pax 2023" has other departments that had never heard of us. They have seen the trophy. They want to win it again, so there is a competition between departments to see who can give us the most tours so they can win the trophy again. Those other departments are now booking tours with us. 6. Okay last one. Social media for us is crap. We've never got a single tour and we have more than 10,000 followers on Instagram. Useless. So, we wanted to make it work for us. Afterall we spend time doing the social media. At the end of every tour we do, we put up social media pictures and video of the tour. Remember, not a single booking from the overrated social media. When we do now is we thanks the agent by putting the agent logo, anc contact details up on the end of the tour they give us. This means we can say "The more tours you give us, the more advertising we do for you" On the strength of this alone we have picked up two new agents. We simply said "Does your current tour operator advertise for you, or are you doing all the advertising for them? Because, we advertise for you like this..." and we show them our latest Instagram video, which will show the agents details right at the end of the reel, and that logo hangs there when Instagram writes "watch again". We've gained agents, and we retain agents. July 2024. Best month on record for us. Been a long time coming, got a very long way to go to catch up on all the losses; however for the first time, we feel we're headed in the right direction. I trust this helps you get more tours in your part of the world. Even with gifts, and everything taken into consideration we're running at 44.39% net profit per tour for 2024 so far, and 42.06% since the end of Covid. You can do it. These guys ... "Guest Focus", inspired it all.

It can be cheaper, but quality tends to wildly vary, especially in technical fields that are already hard to gauge ability. That being said, even small companies can be global, it’s easier than ever before with remote work!

Best cost cutting tip: We give away a free gift with every tour to every person. We give away an LED hat for our night tours, we give away a laser engraved 16Gig Bamboo USB stick on our waterfall tours, a pair of laser engraved sunglasses on our volcano explorer tours. So we added up all of the promotional items we gave away in 2023. Then we went to the suppliers and said: "We purchased "X" amount of these products from you last year. These products that we just give away for free. This means we paid you "X" amount directly out of our profits. We're going to need to reduce that amount we pay per item. Either we find a cheaper product, find another supplier, or we need to renegotiate the prices of these promotional products we buy given we know we purchased this amount last year, and we're looking to do more this year. What can you do for us?" We didn't change any of our suppliers, and we didn't change any of the products we give away.
