And where exactly does this show up in non-STEM working life??? Forty-six years after having that crap jackhammered down my throat in high school, nobody can answer that question!!!
😂😂 honestly it does not directly. In general algebra does enhance critical thinking and problem solving but you can gain this elsewhere. Please see the article below. It breaks it down quite a bit. Thanks for your comment www.edsurge.com/news/2020-03-10-is-algebra-really-necessary
Is there any method you can use to find those two numbers without using trial and error/guess and check? This year I used such a method but I can't find my notes so I'm unable to remember. It may have had something to do with prime factorization or factoring trees, but I'm not a 100% sure. I do remember that this method was quick and easy - especially when c had a big value. Because of that method, I scored well in school...but I just can't seem to remember. By any chance would you know how to do this?
Yes, however in my opinion, I think the 2 methods you mentioned are easier. Especially with completing the square involves fractions. However, most algebra courses require that you at least understand this method.
Hey thanks for your question. No FOIL is multiplying first term, outer, inner then last. You get the same result as using the distributive property. It's just a matter of preference. I teach both methods.
Sorry, not really but a trick is to just start dividing "c" by the highest number you think it'd be divisible by. Also, if 'c' is positive and 'b' is negative your 2 factors must be negative.. This really helps a lot. Im in calculus and totally forgot how to do this (maybe I never even learned it), but now I have this trick up my sleeve! So thank u!
Aww I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully you passed the class but if not, I have full lessons on my channel covering all topics in algebra. They are organized by playlists. I have geometry listings as well. Hope it helps 🤷🏽♀️😊
You're welcome. I'm not sure I understand your question. But no, -10/4 can't be reduced to 2/5. It would be reduced to -5/2 by dividing both numbers by 2. Sorry if that doesn't answer your question. If not, please clarify 😊 Thanks for watching!
