I did indeed sod off and print something. This is a copy paste of a comment I left on another video that helped to spread this method. Just doing my participation support, it's the least I can do to share my story and add activity to this. ======= Although this isn't the prescribed method from the oem or other folks... It, however, quite literally fixed my not getting any dag'um prints at all issue. NOW... now I can finally dial in my exposure settings. I was genuinely worried this would damage something and that it was just an overtly stupid idea... but as the op said.. something around, at the time, thousands of people use this method. Ok.. why the hell not? I've hand leveled everything with paper three or four times now and blamed everything else. Zeroed all those other variables out, so that leaves the one thing I was sure I was doing right. As I said above, I FINALLY have been able to print something!!! I think I've wasted.. I dunno how much resin but about 24... maybe near 30 or so hours of collective effort. Surely no more than 48 true hours spent trying to get this damn thing to print, the photon s. Although I'm sure my other zeroing efforts have paid dividends, in a manner of speaking, this leveling method was the final thing that just fixed it all for me. I realize how redundant I'm being but no greater than 48 actual hours of collective effort... That's a long time spread out on failure after repeat failure. I've grown accustomed to the tone of the fep's ~300hz tone before I was able to get a damn print out! Sorry, I'm just so happy, so.. so.. no happy isn't enough. I'm beyond elated that I've finally gotten somewhere. I have my next test print, the lattice cube, qued and going now. I'm hoping for at least half of it to be printed without fail. If I can get HALF I will be happy. If I can somehow get even the whole thing, with or without jenk? I'll prolly... uhh.. be more elated? Shart myself in sheer joy, what do you want from me? Surely not money.. I've put most of that into this damn printer...
How's it going now? I've got a mono 4k and the thing is a fucking PIG I cannot get it to print. I've blown through so many paper towels since every single fking fail means cleaning out the fep to get the stuck on rubbish off. Mask on goggles on, alchohol open, lift the lid get the shit out. Drip trays, spray bottles spare boxes metal funnels dont touch anything with those gloves on!!.. re-level try again same thing repeat go mental. Watch 10 hours of videos, read 100 threads on the forum, try low speed, try high speed.. nothing works. NOTHING WORKS I just want a print to work lol. What's really annoying is the cube printed perfectly first time, but since then nothing works. I don't mean fancy supported things, i mean nothing. Cones of calibration won't print. Nothing sticks to this build plate.
@@lowaimnobrain thats been my experience with 3d printers. the first few work, and then everything after that will fail, every single time. i always end up returning the machines after 2-3 weeks of failures - the discords for 3d printer support are actually awful and give contradictory help, as are reddit threads and most youtube videos. the only thing ive seen consistently work is LEVEL the ENTIRE printer. LEVEL the build plate like how this video has it. CLEAN the vat, and then tighten ALL the screws under it. every single print. it's a complete waste of time and very discouraging.
Thank you for this! I got my first resin printer yesterday and totally messed up my test print trying to level it with the paper method. This is a much better way!
Once leveling is done, the build plate should'nt move right? Mine gets a tilt almost as soon as it lifts up. Like tightening the screws does nothing to stop it.

just wanted to say thanks for this. Ive been pulling my hair out for a week trying to get consistent success across my build plate and this did the trick.
if you're worried about scratching your fep just cut a sheet of paper to fit the bottom of your vat and then only raise your bed level up .1 before setting zero

I leveled the first time like the manual, first print failed then after searching FB groups I found Mr. Flint Read. I have never turned back. I now very rarely get a failed print. Thank you, Sir!
I just wanted to thank you for this Flint! I repeatedly leveled my bed according to the manual and could only get prints to stick in the middle of the build plate. Immediately after leveling your way I've had two full plates come out perfect!
Well I understood and had Zero issues with the video after 2 failed prints I tried this method and am halfway through my first print and it's actually sticking to the plate now, probably going to have to figure out the proper exposure settings but aside from that, you fixed the main issue I was having with this printer. Actually I just did level it with my vat a little greasy with old resin (even though I cleaned it twice) and it didn't scratch it. First print with this new method, hope will work.
@@overunity its because of the left over resin, try it with a dry cat and if your scared about scratching it cut out a piece of paper to fit into the vat and only raise it up by .1 when setting the new z=0
