Being one of my very favorite Hendrix tunes, this rendition is just beautiful, and with these great session players and Steve Morse bringing that extra layer that he always does. Just beautiful.
Thanks, Jimi would have dug it. My two favorite axe men. Morse is a wonderful person to chat with. At the same age within a month, we're both getting better each year from the life that music has brought to us, and being raised with love, manners and consideration. Hope the Cancer is gone from your beloved wife. I kicked it and pray she recovers completely with a dose of Vitamin Q and some re-fried funky chicken. God Bless the Morse family.
Interesting y’all chose this Hendrix tune - and an interesting interpretation of it. It kinda weaves btw a mix of classic jazz, rock and a touch of modern jazz/fusion
Wow, this is beautiful music! Incredible actually, everything about it. Considering this is very different from the original, a re-imagining of the track, why not expand the length man, turn this in to an extended jam! That would be the bomb, boss, the shiz, righteous, keen, narley, the bee's knees, and groovy! Yeahhhhhhhh boyyyyyyyyyy! Lol
The most creative and virtuoso guitarrist on the planet. Steve Morse is a music genius. Saying this because of all your discography. Dixie Dregs, Solo Career, Deep Purple. Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen and Steve Morse are the three most relevant in the guitar industry when it comes to creating a unique playing style. These guys did it at the highest level imaginable. Fucking!
Even Jr, Thank you for your comments. I’ll make certain Steve sees it. He is not only one of the greatest guitarists on the planet, he is one of the most genuine and gracious people I have ever had the fortune of knowing. Truly a dream come true for him to lend his talents to this album (SIDEMEN, on Summit Records). Thank you for the kind words, so glad you enjoyed it!! -Todd Tribble (Drums)
Rob, Actually this was recorded live in the studio before the lockdown and this was our attempt to “lip sync” it all in a video during lockdown. Everybody did great but there’s a few mistakes I made. It was far easier to play it spontaneously. Trying to learn my part months later was hilarious!!! Glad you enjoyed….. much more to come later this year!
Outstanding! I love hearing all these great musicians playing together. So nice to hear Steve's guitar again. Saw the Dregs more times than I can remember. Fond memories of their several shows at JB Scott's in Albany. Also many fine memories of seeing Chris with Jefferson Starship. Good to see you haven't abandoned the superhero shirts, Chris. :)
Me and my wife were Dregs/Morse fans since the Mid 70s. We have seen him in concert, in one form or another, far more times than anyone else. Who are the other players?
I love this band! It's great to hear Steve Morse with these guys. I have all the Dregs LPs from back in the day. Plenty of inspiration in that music, stuff to practice on for years.
Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, Thank you for watching. Glad you enjoyed it! you are one of the most amazing guitarists on the planet. Congratulations on all your success. Sons of Apollo is one of my newest inspirations!! Cheers - Todd
GREAT stuff. All of you guys kicked butt....horns, skins, keys , bass and of course Steve on guitar. My cousin( Steve Davidowski) played keys with Steve Morse in the Dregs back in the day and on the latest reunion tour. Seen him many times. The absolute best guitar player I have ever seen. The Sidemen gang rips it up for sure !!! NICE job by all !!!
Most likely Rich. Steve Davidowski plays all over the Western NC area...big places, cofffee houses, etc. He just digs jammin' . He's a great horn player too. He was the first keys guy for the Dregs back during the "Free Fall " album days. Jazz trained. Thanks for the comments Rich. I'll mention MIke to my cousin when I speak to him.
Thanks for the vibes "Moon". My cousin can really jam for sure. Plays a slick horn too. He was the original keys guy for the Dregs back in the "Free Fall" album days and played that big reunion tour 2 years ago. The whole band KICKS IT !!!! Great musicians ALL way around. Thanks again. Jeff
Hey there Sidemen....you guys put out some great stuff. A cool group of players with a lot of talent. Keep it up.....all good stuff. I'll check with you again down the road for sure. Jeff Davidowski
