It’s so awful that I feel like these services are supposed to make traveling easier for us and it does the opposite. Public transportation in america as a disabled person is so hard to navigate most of the time and exhausting and then you have to deal with this on top of it?? I’ve had people who are actively sick pick me up (unmasked) and I’m immunocompromised. It’s so fucked. We deserve better. ❤
@UATU.
@UATU. 4 дня назад
The root of the problem is most likely people abusing the system by taking their pets everywhere and claiming they are service animals. Because Lyft and Uber drivers use their private vehicles I don’t think they can be required to take an animal along. They or their family members who rely on the vehicle could possibly have an allergy to dogs. Uber and Lyft could pay better for service animal- dedicated drivers or buy company cars for the purpose, but I think that goes against their business model. I am legally blind and carry a white constant-contact cane, and had two drivers cancel the ride when they saw me. Because another driver dropped me at the wrong location once, and because I can’t rely on any cars being available when I need them I have stopped using Uber and Lyft completely. I hope you are able to make progress for service animal inclusion, and I hope you keep us updated! Best Wishes

I don't know, but my suspicion is association. I'd start with their other senses for a baseline as well as association with those things and emotions as well. When sight and sound are unavailable, feeling both extrinsic and intrinsic would be the key. It's just another language, but in this case, it's a self developed language of one. Find them where they are at, not where you are.

@haben_girma absolutely 100% agree. Honestly, I don't understand why it's seen as extra in the first place. People should be happy to help instead of more concerned about money. It's disgusting how people have prioritized money over literally anything or anyone else. Situations like this, however, make it very obvious between who has their head in their butt and who actually uses their god given empathy. You're doing amazing I hope you continue to speak your heart and truth until something gives❤️ and because things like this get looked over too often. @romebigred2
@romebigred2 Месяц назад
In this case, accommodations means "compromise or settlement" according to the second definition in Merriam-Webster. When using this term applied socially, we are citing legal terminology of accommodation for disability, which means a compromise or settlement to do things outside of the norm. I'm not saying that you're wrong about justly requesting accommodations. People should not feel upset when needing to provide accommodations. These accommodations are extraordinarily important, and allow us to have a much richer and more diverse society. We all benefit when accommodations are provided for those with specific disabilities, by allowing those people to participate in society, and benefiting from their unique perspectives and abilities. That being said, I don't think your argument quite works. It is important to understand that it is can be difficult and expensive to prepare and accommodate for needs that are outside of the norm. It's always a difficult situation, and I say that from my much easier position of not experiencing most disabilities. I have received accommodations for a few, but in general, I really need accommodation, so I recognize that I do not understand how difficult it can be for some people with specific disabilities. I just think it's not a simple issue.
