Great reviews. Thank you for sharing. I might try Babel. I would love to hear your thoughts on Guy Gavriel Kay - maybe something like Sarantine Mosaic Series? It's more of a historical fiction (plus some supernatural elements).
If you like the academia vibe, Babel was wonderful. A bit more cerebral than your usual fantasy read, but very well written - it broke my heart a bit haha. I've written your suggestions in my notes for the next video! :)
Thank you for the video 🙂. One can also rent outside of Warsaw. South of Poland is well developed, beautiful and more affordable in some regions. Dont think you'll have so many agent imposed requirements as well. Happy you got your new place 🙂
@@RafalTraveler that is such a good point! Warsaw has been oversaturated and Poland is beautiful all over, I’ve visited and it’s just a stunning country
I LOVED your review of all these books! They were in-depth and so genuine; I appreciate that you were willing to criticize some books and didn't recommend all of them. I really appreciate what you said about learning through novels. I think that's such a valuable way to learn. I am buying The Will of The Many! It sounds really fascinating.
I am so glad you enjoyed it! I hope you like The Will of the Many! I thought it was fantastic! I love it when something I meant to read for fun, makes me rethink ideas or beliefs.
LuxMed will be easier for you to access services for sure. Safety Wing is awesome if you're traveling about a lot and need a user-friendly insurance that travels where you do. But if you are living permanently in Poland, a Polish option that people recognize, namely immigration office and hospitals, will serve you better. The website has an English setting (way bottom of the page), and there are a lot of LuxMed hospitals around so it is easy to get to when you need it. Hope that helps!
My last visit to Warsaw was pre COVID. Then I was spending about half of what I spent in the UK. The Polish people make the English welcome and I look forward to a visit this summer, Probably Krakow as I can get a dirt cheap flight with Ryanair from Stansted.
I think perhaps compared to London (never been outside of London before but I will soon!), Poland is still likely half the price but the inflation can be felt still. Polish people are just wonderful humans ♥️ so I hope you do get a chance to come back!
Hi, thanks for the feedback! Definitely still perfecting sound at the moment (playing with my mic etc.), so this is all a work in progress. Will continue to work on it 👍🙏
Even spending 250 USD per week for groceries is not much if one wants to eat healthy (lots of vegetables - luckily that part is cheap in Poland, avoiding ultra processed foods - pretty expensive as even most bakery products nowadays are very processed, 1-2.5g of proteins per kilo per day recommended by many dieteticians - very expensive, maybe even organic stuff - few times more expensive than non-organic). The nasty thing about saving on food is that it's like a taking high % loan - for now you will have more money, but eventually you will have to pay it back with enormous interest rate (absences at work, potential medical bills, potential problems with relationships).
Definitely. I think you can definitely easily spend $250 on groceries nowadays, depending on what you buy. But you can avoid processed foods quite easily without breaking the bank, at least at my local shops. Meat is particularly more expensive but your everyday staples like fruits and vegetables, grains, bread, milk, egg, cheese etc. are all pretty doable on a budget. As a single person anyway. To support a family, that would definitely take more financially, but I only budgeted for a single person here since I don't have a family of my own.
How has the cost of living changed in your city? If you are living in Warsaw, how are you budgeting and got any financial tips for those moving here for the first time?
That's sad truth, in recent years gap between cost of apartment (renting or bying) and salaries has increased. War in Ukraine (and increased competition), post-covid inflation and bad government housing politics are to blame. Even lowest-income earners can still find something in Warsaw, but sometimes it will have to be a flat shared with other flatmates somewhere in the suburbs, with all its consequences (little privacy, risk of conflicts with co-tenants and landlord, long commute time). Who says "money doesn't bring happiness" is wrong - money does bring happiness if spent well, and housing is one of such examples. After housing, other things that allow enormous cost cutting in Warsaw are clothes (e.g. clothes like from Primark, Tk Maxx, Reserved, Decathlon, or even second hand), electronics (any Android phone that costs at least 1500 zł is good, buying iPhone for 10k is nonsense if you're on budget), and groceries (Żabka and Carrefour are generally most expensive, Biedronka/Lidl average, Auchan usually cheapest - but also furthest from center).
Absolutely agree. Luckily Warsaw remains livable (unlike a lot of other capital cities) but definitely takes more strategy and increased income to make it happen than before. The last years have seen a lot of rapid change. It’ll take some hustle to get that income up, especially if you’re just starting out in the city. Thanks for the tip about Auchan! 🙏
The on line banking is open to fraud, closing banks losing jobs ask why we can't have on line and Normal banks what about people's with disabilities who can't do on line or travel further when banks close
Cant beleive people pay all this, and then wait hours just to see some plastic gimmick ride created to take your money. The entire place is just an income extraction facility...
Hahaha most businesses are just that! 😆 but I agree, it’s only worth it if this kind of experience is something you value- like any expenditure. But it’s best to budget and save for something like this!
Must be nice to have that much money that $114 is the cheapest...and a mere $219 extra for a pass is "worth it" Why are rich people so obvious they don't wanna be around non rich/good looking people
Well the way I see it, Universal costs LOADS (as do most theme parks), so you have to save in order to go anyway. If you go through the trouble of saving to go, and then you are stuck in MAJOR lines, you will feel robbed and that you had a bad time. That's why what I would do is spend another few months to save enough for the express pass so at least you enjoyed your time and it doesn't feel like such a waste. Just my thoughts on this though.
Also is $219 total not extra but if you buy the $114 ticket (which is the cheapest they have available) you can upgrade for $90 at the park and save $15
@@iguessneo I just think if you are saving all that money to go to the park in the first place, it might be worth putting aside a little more so you actually get to enjoy the park 🤷♀
General rule, don’t put your eggs in one basket. So regardless of online or traditional bank, just scater your emery fund or whatever. I’d go for online banking only because of its higher interest rate. Or else if i only needed a checking account, no way i’d go for online. Traditional bank will always be safer. Most institutions offering online banking are never-heard entities, which could make you think they’re shaddy for offering ridiculous rates. Yes the overhead is lower but then operating online only transactions could have some significant costs, e.g. cloud rental, huge systems maintenance, etc. in short the difference in cost of operations could not be really really huge.
Hey, I found your channel as my direct bank has to switch from a non time based model to a time bases package model. None of these packages suites my needs anymore and this is why I searched for traditional banking vs online banking. I really appreciate your content and wondering why your quality content has less than 1k subscriber. I wonder if you would also investigate and create content for crypto, especially for the DeFiChain and check, weather this might be an additional high risk way with high returns to reach financial independance. This crypto project lives for 3 years and is very popular in Germany, Austria and Swiss and has attracted companies like cake-defi and dfx-swiss which are built on this blockchain. The point is that is has a huge community which would help your channel growing if you create related content. Cheers!
I worked a couple of retail jobs. I was at one job for 4 years. My boss told me I got a raise-ten cents!!!I found out a teenager who was there for a year was making $3 higher than me. I quit!
Oh wow! That is super frustrating! The key is often to quit and work elsewhere, people who move every 1-2 years tend to make more- so good move. Hope you're at a place being paid what you're worth!
That is honestly the way to go, especially if looking for a significant raise. Studies show that those who switch jobs end up making more in the long run than those who stay with the same employer. Wishing you an abundance of pay raises!
My boss approached me and said you deserve a raise, she said I was going to surprise you but it will be on your next check. I never once asked her. So today it was not there. Any suggestions? I feel insulted.
Sorry to hear that! I would definitely try and schedule some time with your boss just to follow up on it. Perhaps your boss forgot or perhaps there was some issue with the paperwork or payroll. It would be a shame if your boss thinks you have gotten a raise and has no idea it has not gone through. As long as you’re inquiring professionally, I see no issue with speaking to your boss about it. Best of luck!
I’ve never asked for a raise. I’ve always just got a raise unexpectedly. Also, if your boss just bought a1.4 million dollar plane. Remind him of that. 😂
I have one traditional bank which also have online features for my income and general expenses (I like the fact if I have a problem I can go in and rectify it) additionally, I have an online bank for my emergency fund and sinking funds (im taking advantage of the higher APY) Great Video!
Your comments were good, however I use a brick and mortar bank which offers online services. I like paying bills through the banks mobile services. If I need to speak with a live person I go to the bank. Reaching someone on the phone can be difficult.
Online banking only for me. I like the ease and lack of confusion. Also, it’s so much faster. Truth be told I haven’t done any extreme travel, so haven’t had issues come up. Live & learn. Good stuff! 🙌🏻
