That was a very nice featurette. I have the Karate Kid series on DVD and blue ray but I don’t think I have ever seen this video. Thanks to whoever posted it.
I remember seeing this in theaters as a young kid with my father. I’m so glad they have this behind the scenes editors cut. I can’t believe they had 1.3 million clips taken to make this movie. That is absolutely insane…. The amount of detail put into this was amazing. This has to go down as one of the greatest films of all time. They broke down individual plays from the real games and recreated them with 10 hockey players on the ice moving around at 20mph… that’s no easy feat. Incredible to see the behind the scenes and all the work they put in. All the hits, shots, goals, saves, everything was done to perfection and just draws you into every single play. The music was great as well. I hope they continue to make movies like this.
My nephew was being bullied at school so we showed him the karate kid and he decided he wanted to take karate lessons. One day. He said him and his bully were now friends. Apparently they had a face off and my nephew was able to handle him and when he could’ve hurt him, he showed him mercy and that turned the tide. He helped the bully from the floor and they’ve been friends ever since
Would love to have asked Johnny when Daniel was doing the one legged crane thing, what move where you going for there? The don't throw a kick or punch sprint forward with your chin up move?
Pat Morita crying at the end telling he now belongs to a family from the whole world, man, that made me tear up 🥺🥺🥺, RIP, you're the sensei for a whole generation ❤
I watched this in 1984 with my brother in the thatre. He was mentally challenged and later died in a car accident but when "Daniel" won the tournament, he stood up and yelled "YEAH" in front of the whole audience. Everyone cheered. Ill never forget that for the rest of my dsys❤
I never knew that the bear was actually real, I thought it was animatronic, it's amazing how they have the actual bear to play the role, the bear trainer is a real pro.
6:19 I hate to break it to Johnny, but Allie was not your property. She had every right to relieve you especially how you’re getting violent with her on that beach. You also shove Daniel to the ground he had every right to retaliate. Daniel is the real bully. He’s a very pathetic one.
8:59 Bullying, misogyny, and bigotry are rising to the level of legitimacy in the US today. Militarism, authoritarianism, and social stratification are de rigeur; it is inculcated in today's American youth in a way it wasn't when I was growing up.
