Tom's playing his given me an immeasurable amount of joy since I discovered him in 2017. While I frequently grieve his accident, I remain thankful that his legacy is so well preserved online thanks to people like VBR and Ron. I am patiently waiting for the day the name Tom Brier becomes synonymous with some of the greatest American composers of all time.
What a shame that the Steinway B was taken out of the theatre and that the owners no longer want to collaborate with the festival organizers. I guess the theatre had quite dangerous stairs up to the stage that were an utter pain for performers to get up but the piano and the acoustics I think more than made up for those short comings (though sometimes there wasn't enough room in the building to even get in)
A shame that Tom didn't play more Jazz, eventhough though I think he probably played at least some (besides this one). His playing sometimes realy closely resembles Jelly Roll Morton, especially in the left hand, eventhough there is no recording of him playing his pieces. I could be wrong, though. Novelty and New Orleans Jazz/Ragtime have a lot of similiarities.
