Two small points: 1. The NFL went to a 16-game season in 1978 (not 1980). 2. Dickerson was not league MVP in 1984, when he set the rushing record. That award went to Dan Marino, who set some records of his own. Otherwise, great video! Thoroughly enjoyed the recap.

Funniest Barry sanders story I remember comes from Barry Switzer. His freshman year he’s backing up Thurman Thomas at OSU. They are about to play mighty Oklahoma, and the Sooner scouts were telling Switzer “for the love of God don’t hurt Thomas because his backup is better.” That year Sanders was returning kickoffs and the scouts told Switzer not to kick it to him. Switzer response was essentially we are Oklahoma and we don’t fear anyone. So they kicked it to Sanders and BOOM Touchdown, first play of the game. After that Switzer told them not to kick it to him. 😅

ED also had the smoothest running style of all! Straight up and deceptively fast. A close second would be Marcus Allen.

ED was my childhood role model as a football player, when AP was closing in on his record, I was…NO! 😂😂 and it didn’t! I’m pretty sure Dickerson’s record is secure because the NFL has no value for RB’s anymore.

Eric Dickerson is top 3 for the greatest RB ever look at what he did he ran so smooth with nobody on his team like if he could've had a great QB , on his team so the D could key on him he would've won a ring When in the NFC championship against the great Bears team , Eric had a QB can you name him so you know that the BEARS D was keying on Dickerson another like ERIC was Barry Sanders with the LIONS , that I say TOP 3 Greatest RB 1) Barry Sanders 2) Walter Payton 3) Eric Dickerson .

I don't have to watch this video to know that it is a joke. 16 games, not 14 (or 12). Narrower hash marks. EASIER passing making for more running.

To the guy that made this video, get your facts straight about the fastest RB of all time. Chris Johnson isn't even close to the fastest RBs of all time, let alone the fastest players of all time. He's not even in the top 100 fastest men in NFL history. I'll briefly explain. The NFL 40 yard dash is inaccurate. It was hand time start with a lazer finish when Chris ran it. This automatically make it inaccurate. Also Xavier Worthy proved how even more accurate it is when he ran his 40 yard dash. Again ill explain. The NFL now uses the hand movement start. So this means the clock doesn't start until the runner lifts his hand. When he started his 40 yard dashes by bending his elbow & began running but the clock didnt start yet until he lifts his hand which shaved a few thousandths of a second off his time. This makes the NFL combines 40 yard dash extremely inaccurate. Since these are the facts we have ro go to their official legal 100m FAT times. These are the facts: Chris Johnson & John Ross both ran 10.66 legal & Xavier Worthy 10.65. This is so slow compared to the fastest men to ever step on a football field. The fastest RB in NFL history is Jeff Demps 10.01. Hes also the 3rd fastest man in NFL history. Herschel Walker & Jamaal Charles both ran 10.23. Bo Jackson never ran an electric 4.13 as he lies about. He ran a 10.44. All facts!

I agree that Sanders is the best ever. He averaged almost 100 yards for every game he played. And this for the Lions . He also had a lot of runs for loss. So to average 99.4 ypg it is just mind blowing.
@jasonrichwall7419
@jasonrichwall7419 2 месяца назад
Jim Brown averaged 133.1 ypg in a 14 game season (1863 total) in 1963. Would be good for 2128 over 16 or 2261 over 17. He also averaged 104.3 yards per game over his entire career, which would be good for 1773 yards per season in today’s NFL. He’s in a class of his own.

There are a lot of absolutely fantastic running backs discussed in this video. For me, Walter Payton is the greatest running back of all time. He was a fantastic runner who could also block, catch and pass the ball at a very high level. He played with enormous heart and epitomized the never-say-die attitude. His durability is legendary. He put up enormous stats when playing on some truly awful Bears teams, which meant that he received very little help throughout much of his career and was the focus of all opposing defenses. I would take Payton over any other back.

He used to just kill us in Detroit. I loved watching him in spite of that. He was relentless, every little thing he did. He would reach out the ball on the ground to get an extra half yard on the spot. No one quite like him.

The issue about o j Simpson, that guy used his platform to down grade the brother, you was not there yourself, you didn't see oj do anything, but what the media told everybody, and you believe it.what if someone reported you was doing something crazy, If we were not there should we believe it? Bad reporting, his carrying the football had nothing to do with what they said. People have their own agenda.

The year, Eric Dickerson broke the record the Rams did not have a decent quarterback. Because of this, the defenses could focus all their attention on him. And he still broke the record.

Here’s the facts you’ve been looking for. If you take any player’s top 17 games in a row, to be fair to OJ, even between 2 different seasons, 17 games played in a row, EARL CAMPBELL has the most yards played in 17 games, in a row. Each thigh was measured at 34” inches. That’s my waist size. His greatest rivals were the hall of fame Pittsburgh Steeler’s Iron Curtain defense, and he still put up Hall of Fame numbers. My favorite is Barry Sanders though… 😎

I grew up in Buffalo and actually went to 3 home games the year OJ broke Jim Brown’s single season record. I can tell you that several of those games were in very cold and snowy conditions. Also, the Bills were terrible. Everyone knew that OJ was getting the ball and they still couldn’t stop him - that included the Dolphins coming off their perfect season and on their way to a 2nd SB, as well as the Steelers, who were on the verge of winning their first SB. It seems unfair to keep adding games onto a season and not adjusting some of the record book entries. The person that reminds me most of the way OJ ran was Eric Dickerson. They were both relatively tall, e.g. 6’2” backs, and had that deceptive sprinters speed. OJ seemed to be running downhill. He was part of the 4x110 yard relay at USC that broke the world record, and ran a 10.3 100m in 1967 - not quite as fast as Bob Hayes, but pretty damn fast. Great list. Like you noted, given how the NFL currently relies on RB by committee, it’s hard to imagine anyone breaking 2000 yards, even with a 17 game schedule.

The goat debate for NFL running backs is a lot of fun. But I do think there’s seven or eight guys you could have a revolving door with. My choice and he just doesn’t get the love he should is Adrian Peterson. The guy was unstoppable. He could run over you, around you, by you. He was the Barry Bonds of football. Got you 5 yards every single time he touched the ball and then would bust you for 75. If I had to have one running back to win the Super Bowl, it would be Peterson. My next pic is Dickerson who is also underappreciated. Jim Brown gets number three spot.
