We have a 9 week old PP, she's retrieving well already...canvas dummy with duck wings, very birdy. Love the video, can't wait to get Miss Mabel in the field.
Thanks for watching! When I was researching the breed I could find hardly any videos on RU-vid of them actually hunting. I’m hoping to have a lot of waterfowl and upland content coming this fall. Considering subscribing to the channel if you want to see how her freshman year goes! & That’s awesome. Sounds like she’s going to be a great pup! They are extremely smart and quick learners.
I also have loads of videos of her on my Facebook page (The Outdoor Calling) of her progress if you want to check that out. I know I was always trying to find stuff to watch related to the breed when I first got Piper.
Also could you make a gear guide video for those 30 plus pounders, hook/line size, etc. and maybe some tips for locating some of these Iowa flats on our rivers?
Thanks for watching. I will consider putting together a video! I typically run 8/0 or 10/0 Whisker Seeker triple threat hooks with live bait. I run 60 pound braid mainline with 50lb mono leader. Usually 4-6oz weight depending on current and bait size. I know typically, people run heavier leaders than mainline, but I prefer to be able to break it off on snags and not lose all of my gear. I would focus on fishing around deeper than average river depths and submerged timber. They can be tricky to catch, the water temp probably isn’t warm enough to have great success quite yet.
@@TheOutdoorCalling thank you, I’ve been trying to get on some good sized flats. What rod/reel are you using? If you don’t mind me asking. Also I really enjoyed the content 👍
It was filmed on a go pro. It’s almost impossible to film and react with my camcorder on a tripod in this tight of cover. Just have to run a wide angle to capture what I can. Sometimes it works out better than others. Thanks for watching and the feedback.
Nope, not our chair. It was there and we left it incase someone wanted to come back for it. Not sure what happened to it after that. We just used it to lean a rod on. We did pickup a ton of trash and old fishing line while we were there. I always try to leave a spot better than I found it. Thanks for the comment.
@@DreadyEDDY710 All good, I didn’t take it that way at all. This video is from last summer.. I haven’t been there this year.. crazy that it’s still there. Probably safe to toss it in the trash at this point! Haha
I never got duck hunting easiest targets so boring , I hate the taste . Takes no skill and taste like they are saturated with oil live in ponds and eat there own shit oh yeah they do .
I feel for you 😢 just come into spring here Dunedin N.Z lots of lambs the country side looking lush can be very hot during summer, we have had a lot rain so hopefully no drought this year 😊
