i'm sure with the tech currently available in this world a software/ hardware tweak shouldn't be too hard, I mean just to get a bit more kilowatts or vuma.
NIce car but the reason they are not driven is "catastrophic engine bore scoring", the GT and Turbo exempt, the standard 996 is an expensive ticking bomb unfortunately with those engines.
enjoyed this, beautiful scenery too............... just looking at these, bit of a bargain compared to boring modern cars, all the best from sunny england
Firstly switch off eco mode... That hampers performance considerably. I see you had it on. Secondly it sounds like you have sour grapes. The Stepway is a great car and probably Renault's best value for money car. Mayne spend some more time in a car before posting your review....
Lovely video. But it's too short! Hope you could've done more detail about it with a 15 min video at least. All my videos are above 25 mins and it never affects my view or audience retention.
Lol I picked up mines stuck in a dirt shed. It has 114,000 miles since 2012 (had to get new cats some crack head stole them from the shed) and dropped the engine did all gaskets and the AOS on eBay. Took about 1k in parts. Runs perfectly fine accept for the a ac leak I need to trace down
There's nothing wrong with 996 Porsche brakes, they're just not grabby economy-box street pads, you need to PUSH it HARD! Then you will realize how good they are..
It's a budget car you plonker! Some people just want / can only afford a basic car, they don't need some status symbol to make up for their inadequacies. Getting from A to B is the point after all!
It's a budget car my friend. You're expecting the comfort and luxury of premium cars. This is a great car when it's in your budget, when you're used to cushy cars this will feel like a brick with wheels, i get it.
Its Pinecone coincidentally trying to choose between two 996s as we speak. Both 2002 cabs, ones a 4 and one isn’t. I’m so torn. Both around 85k miles, ones had the ims done and is 16,9. The other one hasn’t, and it needs catalytic converters but it’s 15, think I can get it for 14,5. Guessing you have one? How do you like it? Can’t wait to pick mine up...whichever I decide
A couple things: One, note how low the tail pipes are in the cut outs, needs motor mounts. Typical of that age and very simple to do. Two, those are 4 pot aluminum Brembos, not Big Reds, but not much smaller. A full flush and new pads/rotors and the brakes will feel/work much better, certainly miles above what came standard on most cars then and now. Depending on mileage, they may benefit from a rebuild kit which is reasonably priced and simple to install.
Hey! That's brilliant, thank you! I do believe there is more to an enjoyable drive than just pure speed and the DBS blends all required elements beautifully. The steering is one of the most rewarding aspects for me. I hope you enjoy every mile in your DBS!
I've just bought a DBS carbon black too and I like the way hmbpinot has said you "get it" … this car isn't about rocketing around and I have to say I love the shape, look and style even more than the new DBS launched yesterday!
I grew up in SA, love the country and your presentation was very good.... It says everything AM is about and no I don't work for them.... like you I just love cars.....
