Spectra7 comment on the misleading statement: Our team listened to how Don answered the question about ACCs vs AECs and what he said was incorrect and misleading: He said that ACCs had to be tuned to specific ports in a switch. This is completely false. An ACC is designed to look like a DAC and is plug and play. What he failed to mention was that with a DAC or an ACC, you can plug in the cable and it will work without any configuration. With an AEC, the host system must configure the AEC to work with the port. This is the same for AOCs. An AEC is just an AOC without the optical conversion and the optical cable. He stated there is no IEEE standard or MSA for ACCs. This is also not correct. While there is no standard specifically for an ACC, it is not needed because our technology conforms to standards for DACs, such as 200GBASE-CR4, 400GBASE-CR8, etc. What we tell customers is that our goal is for an ACC to look as much like a DAC as possible. Therefore customers get the benefit of lower power and lower cost, while also getting longer reach and smaller gauge wires While AECs do certainly have a cost and power advantage over AOCs, ACCs have a cost and power advantage over AECs. Standards are not an issue.
Very disappointed to spread false information on active copper cables. I can understand this technology is your competition. Still answering they question that way is very lame.
