Hi, I’m Claire, a keen paper crafter, DIY’er, and lover of stationery. Thanks for stopping by and taking a moment to watch my videos. I aim to inspire!
Hi Maggie, funny I just did this project myself last night. I think the more we do it the better we’ll get. Yours turned out better than mine. I used some holographic stickers in mine. You have to sand the edges.
Hi Claire! I’ve avoided the pen molds due to them being a single use item. I’ve found a RU-vidr that was experimenting with making these refillable pens, in case you’re interested.
Has anybody had any success with this . I am using my cricut maker, the exact same glitter card, a brand new green cutting mat and a brand new deep cut blade. Tried the suggested glitter card setting on more pressure, just rips it to shreds. So tried on normal and less pressure, same thing. Tried experimenting in "more settings" with different pressures , no good. Tried light chipboard that another page recommended on various settings, no joy. Read in other comments that a lady tried watercolour setting , tried that, didn't work either !! What on earth am I doing wrong 😬
After having trouble cutting this card like a lot of people I noticed the poster uses a deep cut blade and not the standard one, I'm off to order one now!
@@iheartmaggie9916 Yes you can. IF you check out SteveMcdonaldaertandcrafts, he came up with a way to make these refillable. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dahnf5qUB74.html
I have these and tried it. Came out pretty good. The only thing is the pen dried out and won’t write. I wish it had caps to cover it or something. If anyone has any suggestions plz let me know.
I have watched a couple of other Spiral Betty videos but they used adhesive vinyl. I wasn’t sure how this would work putting on a T-shirt. This video answered all my questions. Thank you for a wonderful video.
Thank you im not very tech savvy i tried from my phone but it was a Black square which would cut but the photo spiralised would only print and cut i cant figure out how to make it a svg on my phone i wil try on laptop 😘
I have watched several videos about doing the spiral betty but none have explained it as well as you have. Thank you for explaining it step by step, now I'm definitely trying it now that I've watched your video. Thank you again.
Hello! To be honest I have stopped using the green one as i just can’t get the finish right, I’m not sure if it’s how I’m using it or if it’s badly designed. I thought maybe about sanding it down and giving it a light coat of resin but i haven’t tried it yet
I think I say in the video I was just winging it but looking at the measuring pot it looks about 40ml, I did mix a bit more to top them up on a second pour x
I used the same card and the same settings, but my cards keeps moving on the mat even when I put tape on, I’m trying to do a cake topper with calligraphy writing, do you think this is the problem?
Have you taped it in all four corners and made sure your mat isn’t losing it’s sticky. It might struggle with overly fussy designs but you could try using the intricate card cut option and add more pressure, this cuts it twice and it designed for more detailed cuts.
@@iheartmaggie9916 I used a brand new light grip mat. I didn’t tape the corners just the sides, I’m going to try the setting you mentioned and also tape the sides, hope that works
The nib is so resin doesn't get inside the barrel. I've lost a few pens due to no airflow. The round pen is notorious for me getting covered in resin. I can't see if the barrel is in the nib or not.
The nibs fit well in all the pens apart from the pink one, it's just a bit too thick to fit down the barrel, that is my favourite, I would like to try and get it to work as it's such a lovely mould
@@brandybrown2673 can’t believe no one else has noticed! Thanks for pointing it out and I hope you enjoy making it, would love to see how it turns out! X
It’s been a while since I saw one if these. I had no idea you were the brains behind the design :) Everyone was making one of these at that time as it seemed impossible but it was actually so easy to make and in the end it looked amazing.
I am surprised by this as I get a clean cut each time, have you cut on the glitter card setting with extra pressure? Have you checked that your blade is sharp?
Hello, I always cut on the glitter card setting with extra pressure and it cuts perfectly. Also, use washi tape to fix to your mat to ensure it doesn't move during the cut :)
@@iheartmaggie9916 Hey, I have used both glitter cardstock and heavy cardstock on normal pressure. Will try out extra pressure. I was thinking I would have to buy the deep point blade.
@@mayowakasim1431 Hi Mayowa! The glitter cardstock setting didnt work for me either, weirdly I used the watercolour paper setting on extra pressure and it cut perfectly! no idea why but i hope that helps :D
Can you explain sizing, please? I see that you started with a rectangle 4.25 x 5.5 but it looks like you inserted a card that was larger. I have a card designed at that size but it won't let me choose that size in the materials screen. I'm confused!
