John would it be ok to put a transducer on the port side of transom ? The Garmin unit is on the bow mount so it will only be used when the Mercury motor is off ( so no prop wash ) . The reason I want it there is because there is already a big 3/1 transducer on the starboard side of the transom. Do you think it’s ok to do this ? Plus there wouldn’t be two big transducers right next to each other . Any reason not to do this ? Any opinions on this would be appreciated ! Paul
technology will never end but if you want real satisfaction you'll have to draw the line somewhere. Mountain climbing with a helicopter doesn't merit mention. I surf and any talk of motorized surfboards will demote you to bottom of the totem pole, because that's not surfing. Learn to navigate your sport on your own faculties. One catch with your own handmade lure at a sighted fish or likely structure is worth more than all the fish ever caught using tech. Just throwing money at fish for success is already a fail.
John I'm new to fishing. I been catching a lot fish on crankbait. I saw one of your old video on RU-vid saying you love crankbait. Can you show us how to crank from beginner to a competent crankbait fishing?
Would it be ok to put a transducer on the port side of the transom if it’s a bow mounted fish finder ? Mercury would be off when using the bow mounted unit so there wouldn’t be port side prop wash ! I wanted to put it on the port side because there is already a big 3/1 transducer on the starboard side . The port side transducer would be a Garmin unit . The starboard side transducer is for a Lowrance on the console. I didn’t want two big transducers right next to each other . Thus using the port side for the Garmin. What do you think ?
This helps a lot thanks can you do a review on all the switches on the boat what needs to be turned on before you start your boat what needs to be turned on for your fish finder to turn on live well switches all I know is there's a lot of switches
Hey bud. I have a few questions that I know that you will be my saving grace. 1. Did you or have you had any interference with the MOVE and the 360? I just had mine installed and I’m getting terrible interference between the two. I’m so bummed. 2. Is your MOVE easy to deploy and lift? Mine sucks. I have to put all my ass behind deploying the MOVE, and to pull up the MOVE up……..holy cow, it’s horrible. I can barely lift it. And I’m 6’2” and 225. And in good shape. I have to use two hands and lean back to put all my ass behind lifting it. Can you help me?? PLEASE!! Thank you in advance.
The interference is caused by the steering board. Contact Power Pole and they will send you a grounded one. Problem solved. Ask about the deploy issue, the lift assist piston may have gone bad
I'm glad they limited it because the amount of money it cost was getting out of hand but I am so glad that they did not ban it because I have a 15 year year-old in high school and a 12-year-old in middle school and they both play football and wrestling and I help out with their teams and I know their teammates very well and before forward facing sonar all of these children just did not have an interest in fishing like I did as a child but with forward facing sonar kids watch fishing and participate in fishing and their Christmas and birthday list every year is nothing but signature series rods and baits. Because they are taught in school on screens and all of their communication is through screens having Forward facing sonar makes the sport so appealing to them. And this has been all they have been talking about lately and now they are all planning on watching BASS exclusively. My 12-year-old explained that watching a guy go down a bank catching a fish every 30 to 45 minutes is extremely boring but seeing someone like Jacob Wheeler get on a school and catch a fish every cast is exciting and makes him want to do the same. On a bad day when the bite was tough my kids would get bored after a couple hours which is understandable but if you give them the trolling motor and my Live Scope they will spend eight hours chasing fish and do not want to go home at the end of the day Because they know the fish are there and it's up to them to figure out how to make them bite and that interaction keeps them entertained even when they are not catching anything just knowing the fish are there gives them hope. Anyone that thinks that forward facing sonar means you throw the bait in front of the fish and it bites has never used forward facing sonar a trick I use on Lake Hartwell currently is to pinpoint where the fish are on a point with my Live Scope and then turn it off Because they are so sensitive to electronics on this lake that they will not bite if I have it facing towards them. One of the pros on the NPFL taught me that so my kids could catch more spotted bass.
Best way to eliminate line issues with spinning reels is to let the line dangle as you would in fly fihing, then make short casts. I been doing this for a while now and havent run in any issues.
Why did Mercury make 150hp outboards so ugly nowadays, 150s used to be beginner V6s with good power and good looking motors, Mercury could have easily make the cowls look like the 175s
NPFL separated themselves, which was a great move for them. They have already pulled anglers to their league, and this should pull a few more that are hanging out in Opens or struggling in the MLF. Guys need to fish their strengths regardless of what technology is out there. Many dont process the FFS game at the rate thats needed to keep up with the guys that live and die by it. Great point about the information though. Up to date info cuts the learning curve way way down. Some is to the point where you really only would need one day on the lake to go check the spots given to you. Not too hard when the work is already done for you.
Sorry! Most of us that are invested in FFS are getting our info from the army of ‘non pro’ RU-vid guys. This is not about the info you guys share with us common folk. We love following you guys, but we have other opportunities to get info. Focus on making the tournament playing field level. Putting some limitations is a good idea. I’m opposed to banning the technology in its entirety……
I agree to the limitations right now. I hope that B.A.S.S. leaves room for making any changes to their limitations they have set. I would also hope that B.A.S.S. compares last years total fish weigh-ins to this years total weigh-ins. Just to see if the limitations were actually needed. F.Y.I....I just got back home from fishing a hot summer tournament. I used your D-Bombs for the first time pitching and had a very nice finish. Maybe next tournament I will win it. I finished in 90 degree water temperature and they were smoking that D-Bomb.
7:10 Your line of thinking is flawed. Bass fishing should be challenging. That is the fun part is finding out the fish and then catching them. Fair chase. You equate total number of fish caught to total amount of fun had. I disagree. If this was the case everyone would be fishing 100% of the time for bluegills. You think that without FFS people fish less and dont spend as much time in boats? What? You also say that FFS results in more lure sales? This is only true for jig heads and minnow style soft plastics. Which, I understand, you make. I get it. But ask Strike King how many lures FFS sells...
Agreed. He has a ton of holes in his logic. I think most of us know protecting your career position and pushing products to do so is what attempting to justify. Just be honest with the viewers. I have FFS, it works probably too well. I'd rather not see it in professional fishing. But hey, money right?
