After the El Farro vid i was expecting a mass casualty situation as if the ship started flipping a la fast and furious, nice to see a successful rescue operation unfold. Also that shot @45:00 is wild with the chopper just chilling on the ships side.

If it had filled up with water,it wouldn't have broke up like it did.So at least we know the men inside didn't suffer a long drawn out drowning scenario. Rest in Peace Chaps.

Hello my name is Anthony and I would like to express my deepest sympathies for all who those involved in this terrible incident. I learned of this through a television documentary called Seconds To Disaster. What I could not believe was the way the rods had easily pulled through the box beams due to the inadequate design. Instead of welding C channel together why wasn't one piece square hollow section used to avoid the one pass welded seams? As well as this why wasn't generously thick reinforcing plates welded top and bottom where the threaded rods passed through the box beams to give even greater load carrying capacity? This tragedy further motivates me in my job as boiler maker welder to get it right every time. This should never have occurred I always question design issues and would refuse to manufacture if doubtful! You are all in my thoughts.

I am a Security Supervisor. The use of personal phones to waste company time is a persistent problem. I sent a link to my boss and employees stating I will add instruction that any event occurring while on a personal non-emergency call or any other internet activity could mean the employee may be held liable for any negligent delayed action during that event. I may be liable and the Company could be held liable.

When the Captain says no to the Coast Guard after engines have stopped working and the ship is filling with water - that's the time to ignore rank and call the Coast Guard.

While not exactly the same industry, my father founded/owned an LTL trucking company called Condor Freight Lines based out of Los Angeles. In the 80s and 90s, we were the largest Apple Computer and Sony Electronics shipper in the western 13 states. Anyway, I very much appreciate the respect and attention to detail of your videos. Shipping industry is and always will be in my blood so again, great job. I love it. Thank you.

Very well explained videos that go into detail without the usual sensationalism that some other channels promote.

We had a ride the ducks in my town. Only lasted one season I guess waiting in traffic for over 30 minutes to and from the lake wasn’t very fun

To clarify first, I am not an engineer nor an architect. I simply have a large interest in things such as this. While the execution of the design may have been flawed, I feel it may have worked. However, given the nature, if I was the architect for this product, I probably would have insisted on being on site observing every crucial step of the process, carrying out regular inspections of the span. When those initial cracks were noticed, I would have immediately halted work, and probably scrapped the entire span. Yes, I would have to justify why, but that is a simple argument of "I would rather it cost more time and money, than have a greater than zero percent chance of costing a life."

A lot of my fellow Newfoundlander’s worked on the ocean ranger. My friends dad lost his life on that rig, and I will never forget him he was teddy bear of a huge man. Heartbreaking the senseless loss of life 😢

“Nearest ship 7 miles away” Oh, they actually have a decent chance of it getting there in time despite this cluster. “Not equipped with survival suits” Oh, they didn’t have any chance at all.
