i just smoked a rump roast but went the other way. A friend bought one and asked me to smoke it like a brisket, low and slow. I tried to get her to let me do it like a tri-tip but she wasn't having it. Rubbed with salt, fresh ground black pepper, and garlic powder. Smoked it for 3.5 to 4 hours at 250 deg. Then put it in a tightly sealed dutch oven sitting on a trivet with 2 cups of water. Into the oven at 260 deg for another 3.5 hours until the roast was probe tender. It ended up at 212 deg. Gave it a rest and that thing tastes just like brisket. Super tender, going to do this again for sure.
My girlfriend and I were there today. As we walked past the shuttle stand, a man respectfully asked us if we wanted a shuttle or if we wanted to walk. We said we would walk. After that, he even gave us a short description of how to get there. The cost of the shuttle is still $20 per person. There and back. The trip and 30 minute stop at the beach took us about 2.75 hours in total and it was an easy walk. We only had flip-flops on. We would do it exactly the same again. We had 2 liters of water and sunscreen with us.
the hike down and more notably up is strenous mid day , trip made in early mornings or evenings is worthwhile. drving 5 miles to the beach will be tough even with suv , and one will be better off taking a ride, the ride will make you tip the folks wholeheartedly, if tipping meant something to you.
Good video, very helpful. I considering the 24" smaller one. I have some questions though. I noticed on another video a lot of smoke leaking around the lid, maybe it is not an issue or does it need a gasket? Also, how is the temperature regulation on it? Did you check to see if the temp readout is accurate with another grill thermometer? Any other issues? Thanks!
That’s amazing , where u can find a 8 quart bowl for $8 , looked all over the internet and couldn’t find any SS bowls for under $43 , so where did you buy it please ?
@@RodsmokingstuffI haven’t done wagyu yet …. Can’t wait to try that option. Have you tried the 30 day wet aged brisket. Keep the brisket in bag in fridge …. Then smoke it..
The battery should be in the tent ... a cold battery might only give about 10% or so Wh, that would be available at 60 degrees ... actually, if the battery was in a small box with the exhaust(wasted heat), to keep the battery warmer(not too warm), it could help keep the heater going a lot longer ...
I appreciate that you have other smokers behind your pellet smoker. Nice recipe, good approach. Sometimes I smoke fish for fresh eating, or smoke it down to almost a jerky type. I commonly wet-brine but I add some pepper, onion flakes, garlic, and a dash or oregano.
We hiked out to the beach in Sep 2023. It was a tough hike as you are walking on Lava and crushed Lava up and down bluffs the whole way. If you fall you can get cut pretty bad. We were 66yo at the time and once we got out there and saw all there was to see we decided to hitch a ride back on one of the shuttle trucks for $15. Since the sights on the way back would be the same as on the way out and the ride itself is quite and experience as you are standing the whole ride holding onto the bars and using your knees as shock absorbers as you go up and down the bumps and holes.
I agree a pellet grill is inferior from a stick burner I own both because sometimes I don't have time for the stick burner as for the cooked bacon don't knock it until you try it if you like crispy bacon
Sitting here thinking to myself "I wonder if I could make a vortex out of a steel bowl". Lo' and behold, I find your video. Great job and great video. Thank you for your contribution and for saving me the mystery of whether it would work or not. Great job!! Thumbs up!!
Too many baby back ribs? Is that such a thing? Hahahaha😂 Hey, do a youtube search on jenny ribs. Jenny Jones does this in the oven and they look great.
