Suffering Outdoors was inspired in 2015 after spending almost 80 hours on stand in North Eastern PA without killing a buck for the 2014 season. I decided to start filming my hunts and documenting my suffering. I realized that part of enjoying the outdoors is suffering and overcoming. I do not have easy private ground with low pressure to go kill a buck and get it on camera. I have to rely on hard work, scouting and lots of time and effort to get a kill.
My channel has since progressed to include fly fishing adventures and gear reviews. I am from the Williamsport PA area in Lycoming County. If you would like to connect with me find me on instagram @Suffering_Outdoors
I don’t have a horse in this race, but I will say I think kuiu’s camo is MUCH better than Sitka’s gore optifade; way too much gray and white and not enough green and brown. Verde is honestly a pretty nice pattern
I love the kuiu gear. I try my best to take advantage when they have sales. It saves me a few dollars. I believe it was 30% off its original price during Labor Day sale.
Thanks for watching. We are blessed to live in this area. I haven’t been through little pine since the flooding. Crossing my fingers my favorite spots aren’t ruined.
@@sinepari9160 yeah I agree, just picked up some rain gear and will do a review on that but seems like the best waterproof system out there for hunting.
Hello. I’ve been watching your videos and I’m fairly confident we are hunting the same turf. With that said, looking for a set up that I can go from hanging in tree mode to doing a drive. Obviously not conducive with a tree stand on your back and mountain laurel!Do you see this as possible with a saddle setup? Curious on overall weight of the complete saddle setup including sticks and platform. Thanks for the video
Neat! We have some great ground to hunt. If I knew I was going to be doing a drive I would either not bring the saddle and sticks, or, just bring one stick and a rope ladder aider. You don’t have to get as high during rifle, just off the ground enough to shoot above the laurel. That would help cut the weight down.
Dave, When you drop shot do you use only unweighted nymphs or can you still use weighted nymphs? I have multiple boxes full of weighted nymphs but have been sold on the drop shot technique and want to primarily do that vs euro nymphing weighted flies to the bottom. Thanks! Shane
This is John responding on behalf of Dave. You can use weighted nymphs but it may be harder to control the system. Having all the weight at the bottom is ideal. Plus. It lots the flies drift more naturally in the micro currents. We both use indicators with the drop shot system from time to time. We also believe this is a better way to fish than using weight in the flies. Good luck!
Dave, Love the information. I want to get proficient at this technique. Question....There is a very similar rig referred to as the Provo River bounce rig. You can google it. Same drop shot set up as you have taught but also includes a strike indicator so you can cast with a fly line. I have not tried it but its been very poplar on the Provo where I grew up. Thoughts? Thanks, Shane
So tired of idiots telling everyone where to go, And “ look what I do” I hope people like this have 10 cars parked at their favorite fishing spot next time.😂
Dave - Both of your drop-shot videos are spot on! Drop-shoting (with or without indicators) enables an angler to cover water extremely effectively. Your presentations are well organized, and easy to follow. The diagram of your setup in the final part of this video makes things crystal clear. 😊
Don’t bother fishing pine creek after may or before September all the trout die off & they start over from scratch the next year. Colossal waste of time & resources
Nice job buddy! I check your videos each year to see how you made out each season. Extra special getting one with the flintlock! Hope the family is doing well!
Wonderful video sir! Love some different takes on this style of fishing. I’m absolutely going to give this a try next trip! Greetings from Scotland 🏴
Digging into my neck is the same reason why I'm returning mine. Also one shoulder strap is a half inch wider than the other from top to bottom. We measured the circumference all the way down. Poor quality control. Harnesses & belt are overkill for the size pack that it is. Way too much padding just a Carrie under 30 lb.
Super cool, I am fishing Penns this weekend and will be recording a video on my new fly fishing channel @therantingangler. Good luck the rest of the season!
Personally I’ve just been tying pheasant tails without legs and I don’t see any difference. But I can see how a bigger stone legs matter for sure. I suck at tying in 3 biot legs for stones. So I was hoping these legs would help
Great experiment! You did a great job with the statistics. I love lively Legz for nymphs and it was cool to see a small statistical lead, but my other go-to is the soft hackle. Thanks!
I’m glad you appreciated the statistical part of it, I think it was a little over most people’s heads but I do like nerding out from time to time. I’m starting to tie up some more soft hackles, glad to hear they can be affective!
The fact that 100M people have watched Gordon eat wings, but only 3k (as of posting this) have seen your masterpiece is possibly what's wrong with humanity. Great work and even better message!
Thank you very much for watching and your kind words! Yea, I would much rather watch a fly fishing video than Gordon eat wings and I agree that is 100% what’s wrong with this county!
I can listen to Dave talk all day . This is a 13:54 video of knowledge and you can tell half way through the PASSION that come out when he speaks about this . Dropshot nymphing with sighter material Is so effective . It’s like euro nymphing on steroids . Your flies get down so much faster and you get them in the strike zone a lot quicker which means longer drifts and longer time for fish to strike . Amazing video Dave .
