Thank you for sharing. Could you please tell what brand and model is the shotgun?

Thank you! That is a Remington 870 with a Nordic Components extension tube and Magpul stock and handguard.

@@Whistler84 Thank you for your response. It's one of the shotguns that has been recommended to me. But unfortunately, it seems impossible to get it in Spain right now. Even though the Remington is not available, could you tell me the barrel length of yours and if it accepts chokes? In your opinion, is it essential to have the option to use chokes, or is it possible to compete at a local level with a shotgun without chokes? Thank you very much. I’m considering a Mossberg 590 Tactical Compact with an 8+1 capacity and a 20" barrel. However, it doesn’t have chokes and the capacity cannot be extended.

@@antonioj358You want a Benelli or Beretta. There is no gain in using anything else. I used the Remington because it was available at the time and we were just starting up.

Running that sizing press mounted upside down makes it really easy to just drop the bullets in those first and press them out around 25 a minute.

how are those reloads not immediate DQs? please explain
@Whistler84
@Whistler84 2 месяца назад
I'm not sure what you are referring to. The only requirement in IPSC is to not have the finger inside the trigger guard and not exceed the safety angles left and right. The safety angles are usually 90 degrees left and right following downrange, but may be hard points such as a flag in the berm. 90 degrees up and down also apply, but is seldom a problem. Some regions are prohibited to point the muzzle above the berm, but that must always be approved by the international council and by the regional director on a per match basis.
@ijuvatar
@ijuvatar 2 месяца назад
@@Whistler84 interesting. In austria any muzzle direction over the berm, even during reloads, is a immediate DQ on outdoor ranges

That's it?? How did you get .361 bullet to fit properly in .357 dia brass?
@Whistler84
@Whistler84 10 месяцев назад
This is for using in .357 Mag or .38 Special cylinders with .357" bullets and 9x19 mm load data for practical shooting competitions. As I say in the video the .38 Short Colt is widely used by these competitors but the brass is expensive and hard to get.

There are other problems removing the lube groves, pressure being the first problem 😊

It may be a factor to consider for very high pressure loads, but NLG molds are sold a plenty without issue.

Removing the grooves on the bullet will cause an increase in friction whether the bullet is coated or not. There will be an increase of friction even on powder coated bullet because the contact surface is increased once the groove is no longer there. In many cases the reason for the groove is not for lubrication purposes.

Do you use some kind of liquid adherent for powder paint to stick to the bullet?
@Whistler84
@Whistler84 2 года назад
Generally not needed, but silicone spray on the bullets before adding the powder helps if your powder has trouble adhering.

Thanks a looot. I'm going to start with IPSC Practical Shotgun Manual (pump action). I already do IPSC pistol and mini-rifle (cal .22). I don't know what shotgun should buy (or avoid). My shooting club has areas about 25 meters long. Targets will be from 2 meters to a maximum of 15 meters. There is a proyect to construct new areas about 50 m but I don't know if shotguns will be allowed in those new areas. As I can see most people use 24". May be I'm wrong but 61 cm (24 inches) seems too long (Again having in mind the kind of stages that can be set in the shooting range I go). Or may be just it's a question of practice / training. I'm abosolute lost and, please, In your opinion should I go for a 24" barrel or to a "Tactical" 20" barrel. Thanks a lot.
