“They are requesting communication” “Let them eat static” “They are still running with shields down” “Of course! We are one big happy fleet! Ah Kirk, do you know the old Klingon proverb that tells us revenge is a dish that is best served cold? It’s very cold in space…..”
I totally agree. This score is literally the best movie soundtrack ever...hands down. It really isn't even close as this score literally tells the story all by itself. I know exactly where all the dialog and scenes are in relation to this music and have also had times where this score runs continuously thru my head. Movies just aren't scored like this so perfectly anymore. It is unfortunate that Mr. Horner is no longer with us to bring his genius to movie soundscspes anymore. RIP James Horner.
It was the music for this film which turned me on to the genius of James Horner. I have now watched every movie he's scored, and I believe this score and The Search for Spock are his greatest accomplishments. I especially like his use of the upper register in the French horns and Trumpets to depict Khan. He is the master of using orchestral color to create tension. Studying this score would be a master class in how to write for movies.
Back at that time he was 28 years old and the studio give him a maximal music orchestra with 92 players! What a big resposeble for a young composer/contucted like Jim Horner.
In my opinion ST2 is still the best ST film, and I think this soundtrack is a significant part of that. Any soundtrack that can give you goosebumps when you hear it again after a few years is definitely a winner.
The music playing at the end when we were taken to the new Genesis planet was beautiful. The greenery and peacefulness of the environment combined with the music before showing Spock's final resting place on the planet was amazing.
Awesom vídeo brooo yo soy samy el rey de los monstruos inclinación a tu nuevo rey 🐒 🐲 🔥 👑 🌊 hahaha hahaha los nuevos titanes rumbos hacia la isla calavera
Read somewhere, nimoy and others were played out, till someone told them they had to hear the score, maybe resurrection music in particular, they were rejuvenated
James Horner was a very technical composer way ahead of his time many future ideas this soundtrack Star Trek 2 was his best besides Braveheart. Jerry Goldsmith was a standard not very technical James Horner was the best ever r.i.p. Mr. Horner
A masterpiece of a soundtrack, and an epic score. This should be played a lot more widely and regularly. I think it's one of the best movie soundtracks ever composed. Each track so effortlessly conveys the mood for the exact part of the film. It's a great forerunner for Star Trek III. RIP James Horner.
"to the last I grapple with thee: from hell's heart I stab at thee: for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee." - what appropriate words to have Khan use, from when Captain Ahab's ship is destroyed. James Horner was a brilliant composer, and this music is genuinely epic.
Spock: "Really, Dr. McCoy. You must learn to govern your passions; they will be your undoing. Logic suggests..."I have always wondered what Spock would have said if McCoy let him finish his thought.
Isaiah 25:8:9: he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away tears from all faces; he will remove people disgrace from all the earth. The Lord has spoken.
