Who will be saved: ”“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”“ ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25‬:‭31‬-‭46‬ ‭ESV‬‬ bible.com/bible/59/mat.25.32-46.ESV

I find this incredibly disappointing. Was this a church service? There are so many other topics to teach other than this non-essential matter of soteriology. Show me on the doll where Calvinism touched you. Sad. Just sad. The doctrine of Total Depravity is derived from scriptures that reveal human character: Man’s heart is evil (Mark 7:21-23) and sick (Jer. 17:9). Man is a slave of sin (Rom. 6:20). He does not seek for God (Rom. 3:10-12). He cannot understand spiritual things (1 Cor. 2:14). He is at enmity with God (Eph. 2:15). And is by nature a child of wrath (Eph. 2:3). The Christian asks the question, "In light of the scriptures that declare man’s true nature as being utterly lost and incapable, how is it possible for anyone to choose or desire God?" The answer is, "He cannot. Therefore God must predestine."

I will say that during this critique, I would say that I do believe you can be a Christian but still not believe in the tenants of Calvinism, but this is an in-house debate. It kind of pains me in this that you almost never take verses that clearly teach these doctrines and then refute them, but use verses only that “seem” to say the opposite but in context don’t. If you want to disprove this doctrine it would be better to hit those verses head on rather than stay away from so many of them. It can show a weakness in a position to not talk about the strongest positions from your opponent’s position and rather than (almost) ignore them. That said, from hearing you talk, it seems like you have a genuine heart for people and for the lost and pray your ministry is fruitful. Total Depravity - Claim on definition: "Born in Adam’s sin we are totally depraved, man is totally incapable of any good thing whether in thought or deed" Where does this quote come from as I am unable to find it? - Calvinism actual definition: As a consequence of the Fall, every person born into the world is enslaved to the service of sin as a result of their fallen nature and, is completely unable to choose by themselves to follow God, refrain from evil, or accept the gift of salvation as it is offered. - Ez 18:20 - I think that this is specifically talking about specific sins, not whether we have a sin nature or not. I could also point out verses saying that it is possible to be a sinner from birth and before such as Psalm 58:3, Psalm 51:5, Eph 2:3 and that we have also inherited the sin from Adam from verses like Romans 5:12, 1 Cor 15:21-22 - Matt 18 isn't talking about the innocence of a child, and even plainly says what he is talking about when he says "Whoever humbles himself like a child". It is talking about humility, not the child's innocence. - Math 19 I think isn't talking about literally every child, but that "to such" implies that he is talking about "such LIKE these", not every single child. - 1 John 3:4 - "In order to sin we have to practice it". Possibly... but this verse doesn't actually say that. First, it says that practicing sin is also lawlessness, but it says nothing about if there is sin attached in some way to a person already, just that when one sins it is also lawlessness. You would need a different verse to make your point if you have one. - Isaiah 7:16 - "For before the boy knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good" This doesn't speak to whether the boy does evil or good, but whether they know if it is. - "God nowhere says that you are born in sin" Psalm 51:5 "For I was born a sinner- yes, from the moment my mother conceived me." Seems clear from that and the other 3 verses i mentioned that it at least says SOMETHING about it. - James 1:12 "This is how sin comes about". This is how SOME sin comes about. James doesn't here claim that this is every single way sin comes about. He is talking about temptation and desire in this verse. You go on and on about this being the only way sin happens when James doesn't claim this... you do. - 1 Cor 10:13 - This says nothing about total depravity and am not even sure why you bring it up. It talks about temptation and being able to withstand it or not. Also, notice, that with this verse he is SPECIFICALLY talking to Christians at this point, so that should go into your understanding about the context of it. - Instead of bringing up your own verses (that in context don't really even make the claims you are making) wouldn't it be better to take the verses Calvinists have for these things and deconstruct those? I gave 3 verses, but there is way, way more that you could have chosen from to deconstruct. Unconditional Election - Claim on definition: "God has predestined some to be saved and some to be condemned to hell without regard to man’s desires, words, or deeds." Again, where are you getting this quote as I cannot find it? - Calvinist definition: God predestined some people to receive salvation, the elect, and the rest he left to continue in their sins and receive the just punishment, eternal damnation, for their transgressions of God's law as outlined in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. - "Wouldn't that make God a respecter of persons?" Not necessarily. If God chose it because of their social status or prestige or whatever then sure, but it doesn't say why he chose them, only that he did. - Acts 10:34 - "everyone is able to use their free will, the gospel is going to be open to everybody, and everybody can make up their own mind" - This verse CLEARLY does not say this. It says that God shows no partiality based on where they come from. It also says that anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to Him. But it does NOT say WHY or WHAT CAUSES someone to fear him or WHY or WHAT CAUSES someone to do what is right. You are jumping to a conclusion with this statement without proper evidence. - 1 Timothy 2:4 - This one needs a lot of explaining which I am not going to do here but you can google "Does 1 Timothy 2:4-6 teach that God desires the salvation of both the elect and the reprobate?" and there is a fairly good explanation. However, you can see that it says "all men" or "all people", you can use the same logic that the same author says in a previous verse to show that when they use this phrase they are talking about "kinds" or "types of" when they use this phrase, so when it says "all men" or "all people" it is really meaning "all kinds of men" and "all kinds of people", not every single individual on earth. This is similar to (even though it is a different author but something that can be more easily grasped) 1 John 2:2 "He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world." Unless you are a universalist where every single person is going to heaven, you would notice that he is the propitiation for groups all over the world, not every single individual. - 2 Peter 3:9 - This seems like a great verse to disprove Calvinism, but I think there is also just a very simple explanation. He is specifically talking to Christians (as stated earlier in 2 Peter) and he is not wishing that the "you" he is talking about here (those specific people that have a confession of faith) perish. - "Why are we commanded to preach the gospel" if God already chose who would be saved and who wouldn't? Because God ordained the means by which he would bring those he chose to save to salvation and we are also asked by God to. Also, it doesn't say to send the Gospel to every individual on the earth either, but go to all NATIONS and all CREATION. If every individual hears, then great, if not, it can still be said that it went to that area. - It would be nice if you took texts that showed Unconditional Election and then explained how those verses don't mean what Calvinists think they mean rather than just going through your own proof texts.

Perseverance of the Saints - Claimed definition: Once one has been saved, once you have been chosen by God... you are saved no matter what. - Sounds like a fine definition but doesn't really capture the full essence of its entirety so I'll just put the actual one as well - Actual definition: Once a person is truly "born of God" or "regenerated" by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, they will continue doing good works and believing in God until the end of their life. - 1 Tim 4:1 - There will be many people that grow up in churches, hear the word every day, pray, even do miracles in God's name, but were never saved. They will depart from a faith they were taught their entire life and go toward other things, but that doesn't mean that they were regenerated and that they had the holy spirit actually inside them and this verse does not say it either. "Paul's talking about the saved... some will depart from the faith from being in a saved condition, now they'll be lost" IT DOES NOT ACTUALLY SAY THIS, READ WHAT IT ACTUALLY SAYS. - 2 Tim 2:16-18 "They were saved" (Referring to Hymenaeus and Philetus). This text does NOT save they were ever saved. It says they were in a group of people that were leading people into ungodliness. It says that they have "swerved from the truth". Is it possible to know what the truth is and even say what the truth is but not believe it? Yes. It does not save they were saved and doesn't not say they were ever saved here. - Gal 5:4 - This one can be confusing if you don't know Greek, however, it can still be understood in English. Paul here is warning that for those who accept part of the Law as a requirement for salvation that Christ will be of no advantage to them. I think you can see that if someone "comes to salvation" but does it through the lens of requiring parts of the Law, that they are not saved and cannot be saved this way. The two words in Greek that are in verse 4 that you might get hung up on are the "severed" and "fallen" words. Severed isn't really exactly what it means, it means more like to "nullify" or to be "done away with". It's not as harsh in the Greek as it is to use sever in English because sever implies that it was together in the first place, but the Greek doesn't always mean that. It could be used more like "You are nullified from Christ" or you cannot come to Christ this way. Also, the word for "fallen" means more on the side of "estranged" or "separated from", not that you necessarily ever had it but that you are on one side and grace is on the other. - Heb 6:4-6 - as these verses at first glance will seem to bolster your point, but it will take way too long for me to exegete that here. However, you can read a very nice in-depth study on this if you would like from Wayne Grudem called "PERSERVERANCE OF THE SAINTS: A CASE STUDY FROM HEBREWS 6:4-6" if you would like a good thorough explanation. I'm afraid if I do one here that it will be insufficient for you. - 2 Peter 2:20-22 - It never says anywhere in here that they were saved, only that they gained knowledge about the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Can someone gain knowledge about Christianity, and even stop doing some of their worldly things for a time and then turn back to it because they wanted it more. You probably even know people right now that have done this that you yourself know were never a Christian.

Limited Atonement Claim of definition: "The atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross was only for those predestined to eternal life. Thus, it was limited in its scope." Seems like a fairly accurate definition. - John 3:16-17 - "The gospel, the death of Jesus is for the whole world" - Yes, but what is John's definition of Cosmos. It cannot mean every individual of the world based on earlier references using this word and means more like "to all parts of the world without distinction" as an easier way to understand what he is meaning rather than "to every single individual person of the world" - 1 Tim 2:5-6 - "for all"...WHAT? It doesn't say. Does it say "every individual on earth? no. It COULD mean that, but it could also mean "all the earth without distinction". - Heb 2:9 - So if you take that "he might taste death for everyone" as meaning every single individual on earth, then the only logical explanation is universalism. If you aren't a universalist though, you already have a limitation to this statement in your mind that isn't said here. - 1 John 2:2 - again, if you take this as every single individual on earth, then the only conclusion you can make is that every single individual on earth is saved as a universalist is. If that is what you believe, then ok, but as soon as you say "well no, i don't mean that, it isn't every individual on earth" then you yourself are also showing that there is a limitation to this and that world doesn't mean every individual on world. There is even another interpretation of this verse because the English add's "the sins of" that isn't there in the Greek so it actually should read "...and not for ours only but also for the whole world". And some even claim that this means the literal ground of the earth itself that God is going to restore.

Irresistible Grace - Claimed definition: Since we are totally depraved from birth... man cannot desire to be saved by God. Thus, God must give His grace to man, and since a man is not stronger than God, he is powerless to resist God's grace. - Not a terrible definition - "It can't be requested either" Man would never choose it, so it isn't like there are these people that God hasn't drawn requesting it that he is denying either. - John 6:44-45 - Great verse for limited atonement and a "little" for irresistible grace. "The gospel is going to be open for everybody". That isn't what verse 45 ACTUALLY says. It says "they" will be taught by God. Who is the "they". Grammatically in Greek it is the same group that is in 44, those that God has drawn to Him. And then following (again the same group) in the next section of 45 all of those heard, and the same group all learned from the father. There isn't some group that is everyone in here, it is all the same group of people. This can be seen easily in English but even easier in the Greek. I mean, even look at verse 39, "And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day." I should lose NOTHING of ALL that he has GIVEN me. Even back in 36 and 37, "But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out." Even people that have seen Jesus don't believe, but does he say "but some do"... NO he says immediately after this that ALL that the Father GIVES me WILL COME to me. Please read this section like 5-6 times and think to yourself, "Does it talk about God doing something or man?", "Who is the active party doing something? God or Man?", "Does it say that some of the people who the Father gives to the son or ALL of those that the Father gives WILL COME?" "Is there ambiguity about the phrase 'WILL COME' that could somehow mean they 'might' come?" - 1 Cor 1:21 - This is just the means that God divinely decreed to how he would bring those to salvation.

@@jrmitchell12 1 john 2;2 "And He Himself is the propitiation is the propitiation for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the whole world". "The whole world" here means "the whole world" not what you think it should mean, and the context clearly shows that "ours" refers to the church and that does NOT mean that everyone is saved, just that Jesus died for everyone. 2 Peter 2:1 - " But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord WHO BOUGHT THEM, and bring on themselves swift destruction. This shows with absolute clarity that Jesus died for people who will ultimately be condemned to hell. Why? I don't know and neither do you, unless you claim to fully understand the redemption. There are many scriptures that say that Jesus paid for the sins of His church. There is not one that says He ONLY paid for the sins of the church. The doctrine known is "limited atonement" is a false man-made doctrine which has no clear scriptural support and in fact contradicts scripture. You can either believe it or you believe what the bible says, not both.
@jrmitchell12
@jrmitchell12 4 месяца назад
@@CipherCrypto-mf8oq Even if "ours" meant the Church (which I don't necessarily have a problem with), it says that it is not just the church but for the whole world. You cannot claim to know what "the whole world" means just randomly and say it means every individual of the world. It "could" mean that, but there are other possibilities. One was the one I mentioned above regarding it being the physical world. Another is that it is for the whole world of nations and peoples but not individuals. Again, if you say Christ already paid the price for the sins of every individual on earth (as in appeasing God's wrath and atonement for sins as is the definition of propitiation), then every single individual on earth has been propitiated for and everyone goes to heaven. But, unless you are a universalist, I'm guessing you don't think this. Unfortunately with your 2 Peter 2:1 is ambiguous as to what "bought" is referring to. Could it mean "bought" as a reference to what Christ did at his death? Possibly, but that isn't the only way that this term is used in Scripture. Notice how later Peter refers to the false teachers as having had some sort of "deliverance" in that they "escape the pollution of the world" by the knowledge of the Gospel. That isn't referring to salvation but just an outward change in their circumstances. Peter could also be referring to how in Exodus God "bought" the nation of Israel and lumping them into this group because of that price (just like Paul tends to do with his writings where he will talk about groups). That said, there are other interpretations of "bought" that could be used in this scenario and doesn't necessarily require it mean only your interpretation.

Since you don’t understand the thing you simply strawman and rail against it. It’s OK, many people with traditions do this. You have to work past it. While some concepts he is preaching against are difficult to understand, it does amaze me that he doesn't grasp total depravity. With 6,000 years of human history verifying that every man is a sinner, nobody has ever failed to not be a sinner, sin has infected every many who ever lived...and every man dies....it does speak to our nature and desire to think ourselves more righteous than we are. Perhaps he's never raised a child? I've raised 6...I didn't have to teach any of my children to be selfish, greedy, or to sin. I had to train them to not do the wrong thing. Sin came very naturally to them.

Who will be saved? John 6:39-40 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

There is no single thing that one can do to be saved. We are saved by a collection of things. GOD'S PART 1. The great love of God for man (John 3:16) 2. He gave His Son, Jesus Christ, as the Saviour (Luke 19:10) 3. Sent the Holy Spirit as a guide (John 16:13) 4. Gave the Gospel as "the power" unto salvation (Romans 1:16) 5. Provided atonement by the blood of Christ (Romans 5:9) MAN'S PART 1. Hear the Gospel. (Romans 10:17, John 8:32) 2. Believe the Gospel (Hebrews 11:6, John 20:31) 3. Repent of past sins (Luke 13:3, Acts 17:30) 4. Confess faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 10:10, Matthew 10:32) 5. Be Baptized (Galatians 3:27, Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38) 6. Be faithful unto death (Revelation 2:10) Hear + believe + repent + confess + baptism + remain faithful = salvation Exclude any one of those and the end result is no longer salvation. Remember Naaman? He was told to dip in water 7 times in order to be healed. Would he have been healed of he only dipped 6 times? How about the walls of Jericho? Would it have fallen had the Israelites marched for any number of days less than what God commanded? How about any of the examples in Hebrews 11? Not a single example out of all of those instances where someone believed only with no action. In Mark 16:16 when Jesus said, "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned," did he lie?

@@MastaE2288 I was simply quoting verses. Stop arguing with scripture. Stop calling Jesus a liar. I offered no interpretation simply type out what Jesus Christ said in the old king James. Open your eyes son no man will stand in that day that argues with Jesus Christ. Repent and obey him.

@@MastaE2288 sure. Just look back at my original comment. I simply typed out a verse of scripture from John 6:39-40 that records the words of Jesus Christ and you could not contain yourself you had to chime in and make some kind of defense again scripture. I can’t believe you are that full of pride.

@@stephenreeves8297 Which part of my comment is making a defense against scripture? Which part of my comment do you disagree with? You are making a lot of accusations that hold no merit. Explain.

Sinners prayer doesn't save, saved people pray sinner's prayer.

"Was there a God designated way to be guaranteed that you'd be saved from the flood" Of course there was just like there is today, you (they) would have to BELIEVE what God says through his servant(s) (Noah). 2Pe 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a PREACHER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
