My name is Patrick and I’m a guitar instructor and a musician. I used to search You Tube looking for jam tracks, either when teaching a lesson or while practicing myself. Never finding what I liked, I decided to make my own jams. Most I come up with, some sound like songs you know. It’s great fun to jam along…use them to jam along to as well if ya like! They’re made to practice with,if you have any questions feel free to ask!
Almost every morning, with my coffee, I write some music and put it online here. No career pressure, no expectations, just honest heartfelt music that pops into my head from some place, the great composer in the sky perhaps? Anyway, it’s my creative outlet and my therapy and so I just throw the frequencies out into this great big world, because why keep them secret.
I also offer guitar lessons and soundtracks/music for TV and film etc.

Edit: Push pull on the JS1000 (and on my 900) splits both the bridge and the neck humbucker of course. I also prefer push pull over push push because with push pull I know what’s going on (status of the pot). All 1988 540p I’ve seen have the toggles not the five way. Only 540p ii have the five way (1988-1991) Ibanez offered the 540r guitars in HH also. That’s even more Satch, especially if you add the push pull mod for the coil split and maybe install a PAF Pro in neck and FRED in Bridge (keep the IBZUSA ones tho!!) My 540p weighs 3.3kg 7.27lbs (vs 3.1kg/3.2kg for the JS series) Additional 540p colors for 1988: carotene orange violet pearl, dark grey 540p Wizard neck specs: 62mm width at nut 88mm at last feet 21.5 thickness at 1st fret 23.5 at thickness 12th fret
Sorry, no. But it’s really easy. Buy a three way switch and wire the pickup hots where they belong and the pickup grounds on the volume pot and you’re good to go!
Sure I don’t know why you’d do that unless you had an extra one in that case wire it just like a three way with the single on one and the humbucker on the far end. I suppose you could split the humbucker too but that’s gonna be a little more complicated then. I just wanted to have a neck single coil, just cause I like that. Biggest issue for me was raising the single enough so the volume between the pickups is the same
The JS series guitars are not based on the 540r, they are based on the 440r. I have a 440r and it is infinitely superior to the JS series which I consider to be pure junk. Of course, Joe Satriani is not junk :)
440r what’s the difference to the 550r? Same Ultra neck, basswood body, same trem, 440 has Japanese pickups though, where as the 540 has the DiMarzio/Ibanez
I noticed most of his models have the straight style angled head stock. I believe cheaper JS models have the angled. Also I hate the 24 fret bodies. I might get used to it but still hate it. The 24 fret body lost something. Cool upload btw
Thanks for your comment. Yeah k was intrigued to get the white 2400 but I can’t get past the shape of the lower horn (looks like a …) and they should’ve omitted the two dots for XXIV - ruins the look
Iv been a fan of Joe for over 30yrs and his approach to design. His collaboration with Ibanez with his signature line is exceptional, I have always likes the shape and contour of his signature line, I only wish Ibanez would do more for the left handed community of players with their signature line. Having only the JS1200L which now is so hard to come by and at a high premium is ridiculous. The market is there for a left handed JS signature model or series of models at various price points. I mean take their 2024 line 74 new models and none have a left handed variant, that’s insulting, and that’s coming from someone who loves Ibanez and a brand.
Yeah. I would have to agree. You know as an instructor I’m also torn when I get a leftie beginner student. What to do. Because for one I feel uncomfortable making them succumb to the right hand world, but on the other hand- unless that person goes pro - and even then..when do you ever have a leftie guitar at a party or jam or school (for students to use), and then they’ll be the guy who has to say: I play guitar but I can’t play this one. I have done both, I made parent buy a left handed one and “raised” the kid as a leftie player and I have also made leftie kids learn righty guitar. Unsure at times what the “right” thing to do is here. I agree with you on that in 2024, big brands like Ibanez should not exclude LH players. Why would you have to select based on availability instead on preference? Highly unfair. Especially for passionate human beings like us. And flipping a guitar like Hendrix may seem cool, but in reality it simply erases all the comfort and playability. I hope you own a 1200CAL!
Awesome! Looks like a perfect routine. I’ll do it. The first two chords reminded me of Us and Them, Pink Floyd, a total classic. Thanks 🙏🏻. Great camera view too!
Thank you I’m glad you liked the video. Initially I was gonna flip it but now I understand why they have such a great reputation. But she’s a case queen since I mostly play my Strats, so you never know. I’ll keep you in mind!
I was gonna go through each pattern separately but ran out of time. If you don’t know the patterns, here ya go: duckduckgo.com/?q=em+pentatonic+5+patterns&iax=images&ia=images&iai=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.doremistudios.com.au%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2018%2F05%2FThe-5-Patterns-Of-The-Major-Pentatonic-in-A-Scale--1024x289.png
I have one myself, serial number 600 something but says JS Series but still dates to about first year 1990. Still after thirty years, it is the most comfortable guitar I have ever played. Black finish like yours, I got it used for $800 in 1993. The knobs are chrome on mine though.
Great video! I have the signature 5150, for just over 23 years now (owned 2, 1st one was stolen). It's my favorite amp ever, nothing has even come close for me. I also see asshats charging stupid prices (or attempting to) for guitars that aren't rare at all...like over 3 grand for original Peavey Wolfgangs and over 8 grand for Ibanez JEM 77FPs (2nd most produced JEM in the line's history, they are NOT rare). Thanks for informing us of this very cool and useful information! 🤘🤘
Dude…love your channel…I had problems with my D-tuna as well…threw it in the case…fyi…hit that floyd with some gun oil or 3-n-1 oil where metal parts touch…works wonders but I’m sure you already knew that🤣
Ha! Mine is in the case too. I recently saw that short on RU-vid where Ed himself demos it and whoops when he pops it back in the E is out of tune 😬 I do have CLP maybe I’ll spritz some on the Floyd thanks for the tip!
Thanks! I tried to play something that hopefully showcases the pickup sound well. I really like those F1 and C1 pickups for HSS. Larry DiMarzio is a good dude. 😎
