Here are the changes made to Cedar Point’s roller coaster lineup since this documentary came out. 2007: Maverick, an Intamin Blitz coaster, opened in the FrontierTown section of the park. 2011: Wildcat was removed from the park. 2012: The final operating season for Disaster Transport, which would be removed to make way for… 2013: GateKeeper, a massive B&M winged coaster which flies over Cedar Point’s main entrance and features a wing-over dive drop, opens to the public. 2015: Mantis, the park’s stand-up coaster, was converted into a floorless coaster named Rougarou. The coaster received a new paint scheme during the HalloWeekends event while still running the stand-up trains. Floorless trains were added for the 2015 season. 2016: Cedar Point announces Valravn, which opened as the world’s largest dive coaster, serving that title for three years until Yukon Striker opened at Canada’s Wonderland. It features a 200+-foot-tall vertical drop and three inversions. This was also the final operating season for Mean Streak. 2018: Over the course of the 2017 season, Rocky Mountain Construction converted the old Mean Streak into the hybrid behemoth that is Steel Vengeance, which broke ten world records for hybrid coasters when it opened. Many coaster enthusiasts consider this to be their number one coaster of all time. 2021: This was the final operating year of Wicked Twister, the park’s nineteen-year-old Intamin impulse coaster with double twists. Top Thrill Dragster also closed indefinitely after an accident occurred on one of the ride’s parts which flew off. A reimagined Dragster is scheduled to open in 2024. 2023: Wild Mouse, a new spin on a classic Cedar Point attraction, opens with a new boardwalk-themed area. This Zamperla FreeForm coaster will be located in the former spot of the Extreme Sports Stadium. 2024: Cedar Point announced that Top Thrill Dragster will make its triumphant - while problematic -return as Top Thrill 2. The new ride experience features an additional vertical spike and three LSM launches, while retaining the general theme of its predecessor.
