Hi and welcome to Richards home mechanics and vlogs the site dedicated to the home mechanic who likes to do there own mechanical electrical repairs I like to buy spares or repair items be it cars/vans/mowers/generators/scooters /motorbikes in fact any thing we will have a go at repairing them
My channel be it small or large will not have adverts as I’m not On RU-vid to make money I’m on RU-vid to help and encourage up and coming home mechanics
Hi Marcjamesjamos it certainly could be the coil pack but best to do fault finding first to eliminate other components that could cause a miss fire .. i would be looking at the spark plugs
@@richardshomemechanics5566 thanks. I'm a newbie with all this... the car drives fine at first then begins to miss fire after a while.. it's getting worse though.. I will try and go through your tests:)
After watching you idiots with your videos, as I cringe all the way through 'em, I am so, SO very glad I looked in the glove compartment where the socket was. As a side note, you tire "experts" with your 1/2" impact wrenches, LAY OFF my wheels. I'll determine the tightness of my lugs. Not you.
Almost had a heart attack when my car didn’t start, managed to press the fuel isolator switch without removing the glovebox and thankfully it started straight away - you are a hero
Thanks for the advice. I had to modify the process slightly as in didn't have and suitable sized cold chisels. However I did have a dremel with a cutting disk. I carefully cut across the ring with the dremell/cutter. Be very careful not to touch the alloy wheel. In my case I could easily see the edge of the ring and the start of the wheel. I had position the wheel so this particular stud was at the top. Take your time. I was able to get the ring perhaps 95% cut through. I then prised a screwdriver between the ring and and the centre finally breaking the ring. A bit more prising and the ring comes off. Thanks again for the original idea. Hope this may help
Hi rich I am going to give it a go,we bought our daughter a second hand car and the rear wheel bearing is shot so went to remove the wheel But previous owner over tightened it and broke locking wheel nut key let’s see if it works thanks
Hi Richard at 6:28 of the video I thought you only wanted to talk without showing us anything. Luckily you did then. Btw congrats and thanks for sharing.
Great video. Will need to have a look on my wifes 125 whats going on with her front break and just checking because never done bikes only cars so far. To be fair im using sliding pin grease. Copper grease only on pads and fixings because its not designed for lubrication but for anti seize purpouse . Also @15:37 break fluid dripping on a fender. Apart from that the video is very much of a help. Thank you for your time Sir :)
Bought a Astra earlier no engine management light came up the hill not steep thinking i was in 2nd but was 4th put foot down on clutch and no revs passed 1000 rpm, turned engine off and back on and now engine management lights on, any advice please as i already had a nightmare with previous car [84000 miles timing belt/water pump not done yet] on next thing to do, i did get told that the thermo censor was changed in january and there was an after market air filter installed but never had the issue with previous owner 😊
You're a star! First youtube I came across that mention the shroud. Saved me going to the garage. Only thing to add was to wiggle the socket and get it off the nut as you undo it as one was hard to remove after. Thanks again. Have subscribed.
Cheers for that going to attempt without taking the oil pan off too, seen it can be done but havehad some issues getting the exhaust out of the way,@@richardshomemechanics5566
Hi Ach tats The pump will have o rings. ( oil seals ) these perish after time and allow fluid to leak past them especially when they are under pressure when the foot peddle is pumped 👍
Good video. Great help.Didn’t have a small enough cold chisel, ended up using a small flathead screwdriver attachment to get in between and it pinged all 4 rings off in less than 10 mins. Where there’s a will there’s a way👍
I just 'acquired' a Quad ATV - working my way through (compression - seems ok, spark yes) got a plug and replaced the carby with a new one (looks a little smaller than the one that was on it) can get it so start after a few pulls with aerosol starter fluid - revs up then cuts out (did the same with the old carby) I assume this is a fuel related issue, checked flow from tank to top of fuel valve - looks good, what else should I be checking for??
Hi Did You Do A Part 2 Video Changing The Battery On Jump Pack ??? The Reason I Arsk I Got A Problem With My One It Won't Charge No Lights Coming On So I Bought A New Battery & Fitted It But Still Not Charging Do You No If There Is An Internal Fuse That Might Have Blown ??? Hi Jason unfortunately I’m in the process of moving house so I am unable to make any videos at this present time . But thank you for watching my video Regards Richard
Hi @user-rp2gqrm1l The normal signs that your turbo is going is Lack of power when accelerating A whistling noise when you Rev the engine Blue smoke from the exhaust especially when accelerating hard The propeller in the turbo is worn and loose when you move it from side to side A common issue is the oil passing by the propeller in the turbo ( oil seals in turbo have gone ) you can easy check this by removing the pipe on the exhaust side of the turbo you will get a small amount of oil around this area but if it is vast it’s highly likely your turbo needs rebuilding. I would advise to have the original turbo rebuilt and not to get a replacement one as original is always better Regards Richard
Pls assist, me missus fiesta 1.6 duratec starts & drives well...everyone in while it will crank & not start? 🤔 Sometimes cuts on road(when on incline) then crank and refuse to start What could be the problem? 🤔
Hi mate thanks for the video. Mine is not firing after it ran out of fuel while running. Do I need to get any air out like diesel cars? I can see the ignite on the spark plug. It's full with standard diesel. It also spits diesel instead of firing 🔥 Showing error 3
No undertray? If so use copious penetrating oil as the little bolts at the front snap easily. Where's the drain plug, mine was a flat round head with a large Allen bolt and it didn't budge. Lucky me had to go to the garage!
