Hello. My name is Lindsey and I love to craft! My main passions are Junk Journalling, Slow Stitching, and thrifting. I like to save things from being thrown away by making something beautiful. My makes are far from perfect but I think they are lovely and I want to encourage and inspire others to create too. I have a colourful vintage style and love to play with old and new ideas as I craft.
This year I want to connect with other crafters and get out of my comfort zone so, I started my little corner of the RU-vids! So, if you like sustainable craft and beautiful imperfect crafting join me as create in my little craft room.
I love the merry little mushrooms on your envelope! We Canadians are also obsessed with the weather, we even have a weather channel. Do you have a weather channel in Britain?
I would never have thought of making a journal this way. It's a brilliant idea! Now I'm thinking of all the calendars and notebooks I've ripped up in the past - now I'll keep them!
Glad to hear (re: emails being unavailable) that you and coworkers are "not sweating the small stuff," as my grandad used to say 😀then he'd add on, "everything is small stuff...." ha! Serenity Prayer: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
I started just gluing and pasting pictures and paper into a book. It was all I could manage at the time due to some mental health issues. When I started to feel a bit better I made a 1 signature journal. Since then I have made all types of journals and have started to do multi-media things. I do not really have great abilities but I so enjoy what I create and find the joy in creativity. Learning new techniques is always a lot of fun. I really enjoy your channel.
Your wreath is so cute. I’ve been wanting to try slow stitching. This might be the perfect project to start with. It would even be fun to make one for each season
These are precious- SO MUCH TIME you've invested in creating these beauties! I spent some time doing a few junk journal pages (my first attempts) and I'm using bits and pieces of art I'd created last year and incorporating them with quotes and magazine images. I had so much fun I lost time doing it 🥰 I look at recycling materials differently now and appreciate seeing things on various levels to incorporate without having to purchase new items.
I would love a copy for my Mom. She is Scottish and lives here in the US. I found working with paper as a totally meditative practice. I was severely depressed and working with paper seemed possible so I gave it a go. So thankful for all the creators like yourself on RU-vid who let me know that it was okay to just play.
Thank you, that's exactly what I want to encourage people to do with their art. It doesn't have to be perfect to be an outlet or an expression of who are! Keep going! I'm sure you could make something like this for your Mum. I will have blank journals on my Etsy when launch but I'm sure you could make something similar. Look for copy right free images on Google of the area of Scotland she is from to add to it. You can find train tickets etc too. Ask her for her favourite food brands etc and look for vintage images of it. I made my mum one and she loves just flicking through. I do have plans to make one about my home town for her too.
Yawns are contagious, didn't you know....lol. Going to be watching this video over and over until I get the hang of it. LOVE THIS IDEA!!!! This is amazing! Hugs from NC
OMG, we must've been separated at birth! Just a couple of weeks ago I made a journal entirely out of book pages. My main prob was finding enough pages for the recipient to write on, which was overcome by gluing a bunch of notebook pages on a lot of the journal. Going to watch your vid now to see how I can do it better next time.
What a lovely wreath! I wonder if acorns of some sort could be used instead of a bow. Just a thought. I love autumn, especially the cool temperatures after our hot and humid Canadian summers. Thank you for this video, I enjoyed watching you create.
Great idea! I think I might be able to use the template I took from the bag to make paper acorns. I do have some in my autumn decor stash. Where abouts are you in Canada, I family all over the world and a little brother in BC!
I always get tongue tied trying to say 3 hole pamphlet stitch on camera too haha, when I heard you say that I giggled as I have a video where i was the exact same as you 😆
I completely understand what it is to hand make something and not charging anything near the time spent to create it--- I crochet and it's a labor of love completely 🥰
This was a generous happy mail, and I loved how you added it to your journal right away. It's a great way to stay organized. I should definitely try it!
It was lovely. I knew I had a couple of happy nails coming to me when I made the little journal (there's a video about it) thought it would be a nice way to use the things.
I made one with a reused plastic bag and some cork sheeting I had around about a year ago. Haven't really used it since but really need to get it out and experiment. I hardly play but think I'll give it a try now I've seen this. TFS!
Thank you for your video. I like the idea to stamp. I bought some stamps from the Dollar Tree, eBay, JoAnn and some ink pads. But I struggle a lot to get good impressions 😢 If I press like you do, they will be smeared, not sharp. If I won’t press enough they will be uneven. I’m more comfortable with smaller stamps. But still need to make several attempts to get good impressions. I don’t have VersaFine pads though. Do you think the VersaFine helps to make sharp impressions?
I do think versafine makes for a better impression. Try a just one colour and see how you go. I built my stash of stamps and inks up over years. Hope that helps 😃
I have found that the versafine inks are better and give a crisper impression. Sometimes I put a padded book under the paper and that helps. Keep trying, things don't have to be perfect.
I'm with you on those Chinese companies that treat their workers like slaves. This idea is perfect and I'm slapping myself on the forehead that I didn't think of it. Just bought a whole load of discount napkins and was just going to make faux rice paper with them, but now you've presented me with a whole new idea. Do you use straight glue or water it down? TFS! (Oh, and you've gotten a new subbie here based on my reading your info because I love junk journaling, slow stitching, and thrifting, too.)
You are one of my peoples! Welcome 🤗. Yes, I want my fun to have as little impact on other people and the planet. Good luck with the giveaway for advent calendar.
I like how crazy messy it is over tidy craft rooms are kind of strange like dose some actually craft in here or do they spend all there time sorting and cleaning up
