Beautiful tribute!!! I use to have a huge crush on Clarence Jr. and I was about 7 when ooh child came out!! They should be in the hall of fame!! They started it!!
These Kids really Stole the Show, They brought so much to Music and Style . I used to JAM-OUT with my little AM Transistor Radio Delivering Newspapers. Love those Simple days .
Fantastic group of young people who could sing and dance their butts off l had the pleasure of seeing them in person and they put on a heck of a show l have never seen a group so fine in my life the whole family fine no cap 👍🏼l wish those days never end ❤
The legendary Sylvers. I love learning about the history of a talented family group that should have gotten the same exposure like the Jacksons. The music industry picked one group like gold and completely tossed the Sylvers aside. My family was huge fans that loved their voices and how cute they were. This talented group should be honored and given their flowers for being one of the most well respected talented groups from the era of professional musicians. 🎶 🕺 💃 Cry Of A Dreamer is my favorite song.
AWESOME ❤. I Remember seeing the album cover as a young girl sneaking my older brother collection 😊i fell in luv with all the brothers 😊 then i fell in love with the music They Definitely paved the way n was more mature in their Singing. Sorry for the loss in this group. Philly luv !!!!!!!
I loved this walk down memory lane. I am glad that you focused on the magic and the talent of the family group, and not the down times. This was good, clean entertainment back then. Foster always amazed me how he could keep up with his older siblings. lol. 💙❤💜
Yes you are correct ...however The Isleys were adult brothers / The Stairsteps came in with BOTH parents a sister and the infant Cubie which meant the ENTIRE family. So the Stairsteps win the title on a technicality LOL
i remember first hearing cry of a dreamer, i was going through a strange time and it literally felt like they were talking to/about me, still resonates with me to this day, maybe the most beautiful song I've ever heard
I went to The Apollo to see The Stairsteps in June of 1969. At the bottom of the marquee in small letters was The Jackson Five. They opened for the Stairsteps and almost stole the show. I Want You Back came out that December.
The Five Stairsteps are a great act. No question about it: the music, singing and dancing-top notch. But stop saying things that just aren’t true. The Jackson 5 were turned down twice because Motown didn’t want to support any more kid acts. If anything, they made it harder for the Jackson’s to get a recording contract.
You know too much history for your own good. You’re the first person I’ve ever heard say they were turned down twice. Fact is the Stairsteps had a ton of support from the black community. You obviously don’t believe Somewhere down the road Berry might have thought to himself. Hey maybe these J5 kids can go further ???
"Wish That I Could Talk To You" (written by Leon Sylvers) was the cut back in the day. I just wish they had better management/representation because Leon would have taken them to the next level with his songwriting and producing. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about just look at their Unsung documentary.
Thank you for posting this. The Sylvers are friends of mine. I have learned so much knowing them. The stories I have heard from them are priceless. I wish one of them would write a book. All of their recollections are not pretty. They need a Biopic for real.
