We’re Dayna & David (a.k.a. DG2) and we're excited to share our adventures with you! We sold our home on a 1/4 acre in a suburb of Pennsylvania where we'd been trying to maximize usage of our small plot to its fullest potential. In 2017, after dreaming for years of owning enough land to live a more simple and sustainable, self sufficient lifestyle, we acquired 18 Acres & began the journey of building our future homestead! I love the simplicity of your design!!! I live in a rental on ten acres. I also tend to overbuild things and this design is simple enough yet strong enough to where I don't have to invest a ton of time and money to get the job done. Love it man! I hope you are successful in your future hunts!! The dirt on the canvas was also pretty cool.
Great video. I have a similar ceiling and I want to put shiplap over the old sheetrock but I’m concerned that I don’t know how much weight it could handle. The good news is that snow is not a factor. Any suggestions for this calculation?
Please help, I don’t know what iam doing and no is not an option for hire plumber. Please which type of pvc pipe i used for these toilet and tub/shower drain i use. I iam not sure if is really required abs but in this case would be easier there’s only one abs type right? But the pvc has many variety of thickness, i got the thinner one but which one i used all these schedules numbers I don’t know which one to choose
Thank you for sharing this- Can I ask what dimensions this building is? How tall are your walls? Also, did your attic truss area end up being a loft or an actual attic? If a loft did you do a ladder to get up or steps? Thank you very much, sorry ive trued watching other videos you have but i cant find the final walkthrough that show this.
Let’s say, you wanted to relocate a kitchen sink from closer to the bathroom plumbing to where you have the sink now. How would you get the sink drain line to the main drain (I hope I’m using the right terms) I think the drain line would be about 8’ from the wall where the sink is going to be Just cut, and insert a combo wye w/long sweep? Haven’t been able to find any videos that show how to tap into the main drain
You did everything very well . Good explanation on everything and your train of thought . Double checking before just going for it with the inspector is a great way to not have to do things twice .
Your end of the line clean out should extend to the outside, floor level, or in the wall so it is Is accessible. clean outs in crawl spaces is against code.
I really like how you broke down everything you were explaining and the time you took going downstairs so we could get a clear understanding of each part you were talking about before moving on to the next thing; even when they were in the same room. And... you did it without editing & splicing your video. I felt like I was walking around your house with you. I wish I was because I would've loved to pick your brain. My mom is having her drains redone & because I have work a little in construction, I was picked to be the one to talk to the crew. They put a 3" drain in for the kitchen sink. I thought it was supposed to be smaller. Because of what the head guy originally had told me about what was part of her original problem. But, the crew used the 3" anyway. When I asked about it, he said it would be fine. Please tell me what you think. I'm hoping to find out before the inspection & concrete for fixing the floor is scheduled.
We used 3/4in Radiata Pine (soft wood) as we want the floors to become distressed over time... like an old time saloon. I would use oak sheets if you wanted a harder surface area. Thanks for watching!
Nice crawlspace, sweep up that concrete and you can roll around with a shop creeper for doing any maintenance. Wish I could do mine that way. Oh, never mind, looks like you are standing upright in there.
