Such an irritating anchor ! Nithya Shree and her mother were so gracious. The host was constantly interrupting the flow and made it all about herself. Wish the host realised the audience really don't care what she has to say but are looking forward to knowing more about the legend dk pattamal.
Appreciate v much your decoding MSV's composing. It goes without saying your great depth in music. As an octogenarian now I lived through the best of both southern & Mumbai film creations. While watching the film & now song videos we tend to miss the great nuances embedded in the tunes because video takes most of the attention. In this connection it would be worthwhile if the video is also played in a split screen mode. Thus the impact & appreciation by viewers would be total. All said & done it's a great teamwork of all the artists who made things happen. As AVM Kumaran has told in one of his interviews we have had unmatched talent in the South.
what was Ramamurthy's contribution to song arangements till 1965? MSV fans always seem to ignore him..otherwise a good fan's feelings eloquently put forth..
Appreciation of MSV is like chasing the shadow and it invariably ends up in impressioning account. Emotion underlying the music is one determined by the film director, lyricist and music composure. MSV strikes the balance between meter and met. He provided good leadership to stalwarts of musicians particularly western instrumentalists who exposed themselves new methods introduced in new songs and wanted to try in Tamil music. MSV in his composition threw vistas of opening for musicians to try and introduce.
Though belated by four years, I fully and thoroughly enjoyed this video. Tears rolled down on my cheek. Thanks a lot for the intriguing explanation on the nuances of the greatness of MSV. Once gain I thank you for it. Kindly keep on posting such videos for us. R VISWANATH, RAJAKILPAKKAM, CHENNAI 73
Sir, first of all, I should thank you for decoding my favorite MSV. I had the opportunity to witness your video only today. I missed it for 4 years. Believe me I had a tearful moment right through your speech. Wonderful research. particularly the nuances of the raga. In the initial part of your speech, you made many points but without any examples. It would have added many gems of his caliber. Anyway, my heartfelt pranams to you for presenting this research based "notations" of the (one of ) great composers that this tamil film industry. R VISWANATH, RAJAKILPAKKAM, CHENNAI 73
Our entire family, including me, were huge fans of Mani Iyer. I have seen it myself, Mani Iyer despised that people got up and left when Thani Avarthanam started (and I also agree that it is disrespectful and those leaving were missing out on a big treat).
Absolutely brilliant presentation, Sir. Having hear MSV for over five decades, I now feel, I should go back and listen the songs again, keeping your analysis in mind.
Sri.Ramaprasad is beautiful, apt but at the sametime humble and frankly spoke in this interview. I am his fan and now addicted to his interviews too. God bless
