Thanks for the video, I am using Blucon device from past few months with Libre1. It helps me alot to monitor my glucose values on my phone directly without scanning the sensor. The LinkBlucon app has so many premium features, it updates me every time how food, exercises, insulin impacts on my glucose values.
can't wait to get my new DASH omnipod now-thanks again for sharing your experiences. I know a lot of people on the pod but I think that's because I attend a pump center who know what's out there. You are right though because some NHS trusts don't even know you can have the Pod on the NHS. Hopefully with all the new advances with the pod-the new DASH handset and linking it up with sensors the UK will embrace it more.
Hi I totally get everything you say-you are so in touch with the reality unlike so many other people can be. I tried the Libre and tbh I hated it-inaccurate beyond belief-it used to tell me I was hypo when i was 8/9 or that I was 8/9 and I was actually 16/17. The issue is what is generally known as 'lagging' which is where your blood glucose is a different level than the fluid sensors test and this can vary from 5 minutes to 30-40 minutes depending on the person. The other frustrating aspect is that when you are out of range or exercising your normal lag time frame will increase-frustrating because this is when us type 1's need it to be the most accurate!I know all too well the panic of the arrow when you're low (i'm now on Dexcom) -forgive me if you have already had this explained but due to the lagging it can take any sensor up to 30 minutes to stop thinking you are low (so you'ractual blood sugar can be 6/7/8 but the sensor will still be reading 2/3/4 up to 30 minutes after because the fluid it tests has not been flooded with glucose yet whereas your blood has. What I tend to do with my Dexcom is switch it off once I know i'm low and treat the hypo and just let the glucose take its action. I then switch Dexcom back on and it usually still says im lower than I am but the panic of 'urgent low' doesn't go off!The arrows are useful but also psychologically very damaging and I do wonder whether in a few years it will become another syndrome we will all be dealing with. Some people I know put the Libre out of sight and treat the low as I know you cant switch it off. The reality is that there is no real time sesnor as even a short time 'lag' of say 5 minutes can mean the difference between being OK and being hypo for some of us. You are on the money as to the pros and cons of the Libre and any other sesnor-the Dexcom is better but far from perfect-it says its finger stick free testing -yeah right lol. You are doing great stuff in these videos. Thanks for sharing
Couldn’t agree with what u said more, thank u for the comment! That’s a good idea about ignoring my libre until I’m up. I’ll deffo do that in the future :) doing a video about my Omnipod next if u aw interested :)
Hi yes I can see you've done it already lol!I'm hoping to start on the omnipod DASH soon-was due to but then we had lockdown lol. I'll watch that later-thanks again
this is an interesting perspective! because for me when i began trying it i got a 10 day trial back in 2017 and decided i didnt like it. but then in 2019 i began having more issues with lows so i decided to try the libre since my insurance didn’t cover any cgm or similar tech so i was having to pay out of pocket. and personally i felt it helped me a lot because before i wasnt likely to check my sugar at all unless i was eating something super high carb or if i felt crappy. now im on the dexcom and honestly sometimes i miss NOT being screamed at in the middle of the night because the receiver has low battery lol
Thanks for the feedback! It’s funny I also fluctuated with my feelings with the libre. It’s a funny little machine, I actually think the concept is better than the actual thing, yet I know i would be sad if it got taken away from me.. I hope in the future they will bring a more updated version out to remove the issues! And ah yes memoirs of a T1Diabetic getting woken up by random machines in the night hahahah
No worries! Thank you for the comment! I just released a video about the libre and will be doing another about the Omnipod this week! Let me know if there’s anything u would like to be covered :)

No problem! Thank u so much! I’m going to post another today so make sure u come back! Hope ur blood sugars are ok in this HOT weather!! Let me know if there’s any topics u would like me to cover / know my opinion on :) x
Great video Emma! Very informative 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 and very relatable. You should share this on social media as I think it would help other young people with type 1 diabetes as well as other conditions which require self management. You are a lovely sweet person & I have subscribed. Look forwards to seeing more from you xxx
Thank u so much for the lovely compliments! I’ve uploaded it to social media! I wish I had a video of someone explaining these things when I was little and struggling with care, understanding and all round diagnosis. I think other peoples experience is so important!x
Oh right I never knew the med didn’t connect to phones! The libre is awesome! Best thing ever, it’s super small, wireless and quite easy on the eye in comparison to my Omnipod. However I will highlight the fact that I have ran into a couple of complications with libre errors, but the customer service is brilliant and have new ones sent out in less than 5 days!
