I bought a pair of these fish from Dan's a while back. They are absolutely beautiful. Unfotunately they both jumped out of their tanks, but they left me with a few babies
I've had this idea that the reason why these puffers don't breed in captivity is due to the lack of the saxitoxin producing bacteria in captivity. Maybe something about the lack of this toxin in the body is a subconscious red flag to egg production and breeding as they don't feel the area they are in is safe for their young? Just a thought.
Anecdotal, but I will say that my livebearers for you are so much more prolific and healthy. When I order from other places, it's typically an uphill battle to get through a generation or two until you have a good sized population going.
Do they come from dans fish as adults or fry? Thats the one issue ive had with other sellers. I dont wanna risk shipping fry or just barely passed fry age fish. Thats just me
